DC Universe Online – Game Update 165 (Hope Burns Bright)

  • Release date: January 26th 2026
  • Patch notes:

From the depths of sorrow, a spark of hope ignites. In Chapter Four of Light and Rain: Hope Burns Bright, the Gray energy wave continues to spread across the stars, threatening to extinguish all life. Mogo, once mournful, now stands on the brink of becoming something far worse, frozen, shattered, and lost forever. Luzia Cavalera’s sorrow has reached a critical point, and unless she is reached in time, the living planet will not survive.

Stand with the Lantern Corps as hope and will clash against rage and despair. The future of Mogo and the emotional spectrum itself depends on you.

New Open World & Missions: Frozen Mogo

The living planet has been overtaken by encroaching Gray energy, locking vast regions of Mogo in a state of frozen despair. Heroes and Villains arrive at Frozen Mogo to evacuate survivors, provide aid, and push back the manifestations of sorrow before it’s too late.

Players level 20 and above can explore Frozen Mogo through a series of story-driven missions, beginning with desperate rescue efforts and building toward a full-scale counter-attack fueled by hope and will. Once the narrative path is complete, daily and weekly open-world missions unlock, offering ongoing challenges and rewards as the fight for Mogo’s survival continues.

New Raid, Alert, and Solo: Lantern Orphanage and Summit of Sorrow

Hope is fragile, and nowhere is that clearer than within the Lantern Orphanage, now under siege by sorrow-fueled forces. What was once a sanctuary has become a battleground, where the emotional spectrum itself is tested.

Raid: HBB Lantern Orphanage
Face overwhelming forces as you protect what remains of the Corps’ future. Multiple difficulty options allow all players to experience the story, with Elite challenges pushing coordination and skill to the limit.

Alert: HBB Lantern Orphanage Alert
A condensed experience that preserves the chapter’s key story beats, designed for smaller strike teams.

Solo: HBB Summit of Sorrow
Ascend into the heart of Luzia’s despair in this story-focused solo mission, available in Story, Normal, Casual, and Elite versions. Confront sorrow head-on and prove that hope still burns bright.

Flashback Content

Iconic Lantern conflicts return as Flashback content, with new versions that match Hope Burns Bright’s combat rating. These Flashback instances allow players to revisit classic stories while earning Hope Burns Bright–specific rewards.

Flashback Alert: Zamaron Conversion Chamber
Revisit the dangers of emotional conversion as ancient powers resurface.

Flashback Raid: Love and War
Relive one of the Lantern saga’s most defining battles, now offering rewards tied to Hope Burns Bright.

Additional Details

• Flashback versions remain available until the launch of the next chapter.
• Original versions remain playable year-round but do not grant Hope Burns Bright rewards.

New Augments, Styles, and More!

  • Augments:  Rage Tempered Skulls
  • Exobytes:  Raging Exobytes

New: Power Array Augment | Blue Lantern Ring

Hope Burns Bright introduces the Blue Lantern Power Array Augment, expanding the new Power Array Augment system with a Hope-themed ability set inspired by the Blue Lantern Corps. Power Array Augments are upgradeable items that grant alternate abilities through a low-commitment progression path, allowing players to experiment with new builds without disrupting the existing Artifact ecosystem.

The Blue Lantern Ring Power Array Augment unlocks a suite of Controller, Healer, and hybrid-support abilities focused on crowd control, protection, healing, and team empowerment. As the augment ranks up, players gain access to additional Blue Lantern abilities that can be freely slotted into any loadout slot while the augment is equipped.

New: Second Power Array Augment Slot

Alongside the Blue Lantern Power Array Augment, we are also launching a second slot for equipping Power Array Augments. This new slot allows players to equip two Power Array Augments at the same time, further expanding build flexibility and experimentation.

Solo Cutscene Skipping

Players now have the ability to skip cutscenes in solo missions, giving more control over pacing and letting you jump straight into the action!
