BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle: demo and open beta announced for Japan

Yesterday, Arc System Works announced the latest set of DLC characters for BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle (check out this post for more details), but this isn’t the only bit of news we’re getting about the game this week. Today, the company announced that Japanese players will be able to take part in an open beta next month.

On Nintendo Switch, the Beta will take place from:

  • Europe: May 11th (9AM) to May 13th (5PM)
  • UK: May 11th (8AM) to May 13th (4PM)
  • North America (ET): May 11th (3AM) to May 13th (11AM)
  • North America (PT): May 11th (12AM) to May 13th (8AM)
  • Japan: May 11th (4PM) to May 14th (12AM)

NB: the beta is only announced for Japan so far.

In order to take part in this open beta, you will need to download the demo version, that will be available from the Nintendo eShop on the same day as the open beta starts.

Here’s the list of characters available in the open beta:

  • all the characters included in the base game (excluding those to be added as DLC)

And here’s the game modes that will be playable:

  • Casual Lobby
  • Tactics Mode
  • VS Mode (against the CPU)

The best part about this open beta is that even after it’s ended, you will still be able to keep playing the demo. Of course, there will be restrictions: only a few characters will be playable, and there will be no online play.

Some quick notes about the open beta:

  • the demo is obviously based on a version of the game that’s still in development. As such, there may be differences with the final versions… not to mention bugs and various issues;
  • you cannot transfer data from the demo version to the final version of the game;
  • contents of the demo / open beta may change without prior notice.

Finally, here’s some screenshots and artworks for the new characters revealed yesterday:

BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle (Switch) comes out on May 31st in Japan, June 5th in North America, and this Summer in Europe.
