Attack on Titan 2: details and pictures for Story Mode and World Mode

Last week, Spike-Chunsoft shared some details about Attack on Titan 2 ~Mirai no Zahyou~, announcing that it would be released on November 30th in Japan. We were also given a few tidbits about the two main game mode: Story Mode and World Mode, but nothing too substantial. Fortunately, it didn’t take long for us to get more details about those two!

Let’s start with Story Mode, which follows the event of the secon season of the Attack on Titan anime series. Just like the first game, it features various excerpts from the actual anime series, but also music, voice acting, and more.

You get to follow the story from the point of view of Eren, Mikasa, Sasha, Levi, and more. You can play as various characters, with Spike-Chunsoft promising more playable characters than in the first game. This allows you to see the story unfolds from various perspectives, but also enjoy more varied gameplay. Just like in the Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains, there are even missions where you get to play as a Titan.

As for World Mode, it’s a mode where you get to play as your own, original character, and take on various missions. It offers new features, such as crafting, the ability to organise your troops, building a base and protect it from Titans, and more.

You can hire new squad members, in order to grow your own personal army. Once the total power of all individual members combined reaches a certain level, then the upper limit of elements you can put in your base increases, and you can hire more squad members. There’s also a loyalty gauge: when you appoint squad members with max. loyalty, the whole army will receive a bonus.

When it comes to building yiour base, the defenses are pretty important: you need to be prepared from the onslaught of Titans. But defense isn’t your only concern: you also need to have buildings for your own army to use, such as barracks for the soldiers (allows you to increase the number of squad members you can hire), fields (your soldiers do have to eat, after all).

Regarding the missions where you have to defend your base from Titans, you have to place various obstacles and traps, to slow down the progress of the Titans. You will need to think carefully about what to place and where, to maximise your defensive power!

Finally, here’s some more screenshots for the game:
