Nintendo news: Nintendo Singapore established, new president and CEO for Nintendo of America, more

Over the past few days, Nintendo has made several announcements primarily aimed at investors, such as the establishment of a new subsidiary in South East Asia and changes at the direction of Nintendo of America.

First up: Singapore. Nintendo has announced today the establishment of a new subsidiary in that country, logically called Nintendo Singapore Pte. Ltd. In doing so, the company is aiming to accelerate Nintendo’s business not just in that country, but in the whole of the Southeast Asia region.

Here’s some details about the company:

Business lineupBusiness acceleration in Southeast Asia
Capital Stock8,000,000 SGD

Nintendo has also set its sights on Thailand, and is considering establishing a local entity there. Just like Nintendo Singapore, this hypothetical Nintendo Thailand would serve to further accelerate its business in the region.

And last week, Nintendo announced that Doug Bowser (the current president of Nintendo of America, who replaced Reggie Fils-Aimé when he retired back in 2019) will retire at the end of the year (December 31st, to be precise).

He will be replaced by a woman: Devon Pritchard, who currently serves as Executive Vice President of Revenue, Marketing & Consumer Experience at Nintendo of America. She will become President of the company on January 1st.

Speaking of Nintendo of America, the company is getting a new CEO on January 1st, and it’s someone European Nintendo fans know pretty well… Satoru Shibata, who used to be President of Nintendo of Europe until 2017.

As a Managing Executive Officer, Corporate Director, and Member of the Board, Satoru Shibata currently serves as Executive General Manager (Marketing Division), Senior General Manager (Publisher & Developer
Relations Division), and Senior General Manager (Asia & Oceania Business Division).

That last role will be taken over by Juro Takeuchi, who currently serves as Senior General Manager (Marketing Division).
