Super Smash Bros.: new update, more DLC available
Exactly two weeks ago, Nintendo announced some new DLC for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS: a stage based on Super Mario Maker. Good news: it’s now available for purchase, and comes with a little surprise on Nintendo 3DS! However, you do need to download and install the latest Software update for the game before being able to do so.
This update brings the game to version 1.1.1, and requires:
- Wii U: 299MB of free space on your Wii U or external HDD
- Nintendo 3DS: 2 769 blocks of free space on your external HDD.
Here’s the changelog for the Wii U update:
- Users will be able to purchase newly added downloadable content.
- Updated features when posting to YouTube and Miiverse.
- Adjustments have also been made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.
To download this update, you have two options:
- let the Wii U do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated;
- launch Super Smash Bros. for Wii U from the Home Menu (not the Quick Start Menu), in order to trigger the update manually.
Here’s the changelog for the Nintendo 3DS update:
- Users will be able to purchase newly added downloadable content.
- Added the Duck Hunt Stage. [Already available in the Wii U version]
- Adjustments have also been made for a more pleasant gaming experience.
To download this update, you have three options:
- select Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS from the Home Menu, while being connected to the internet.
- search “Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS” from the Nintendo eShop
- use the update option from the Nintendo eShop settings page.
NB: this update is required to use the online features of the game. Also, replays recorded with Ver. 1.1.0 or earlier will not work with Ver. 1.1.1. anymore.
