Pokkén Tournament: LAN setups, Day 1 update, videos

Pokkén TournamentToday, the official website for Pokkén Tournament in Japan was updated, and gives some additional details about the game.

LAN Setups

First, we have the possible setups for using LAN (the only way to get 60fps when playing in local multiplayer):

Way #1

  • 2 Wii Us
  • 2 copies of Pokkén Tournament
  • 2 TVs*
  • 2 Wii U LAN Adapters
  • 2 Straight LAN Cables
  • 1 Router

NB: in the Internet settings of your Wii U, you need to select “Wired”.

Way #2

  • 2 Wii Us
  • 2 copies of Pokkén Tournament
  • 2 TVs*
  • 1 Wireless Router

NB: in the Internet settings of your Wii U, you need to select “Wireless”.

Way #3

  • 2 Wii Us
  • 2 copies of Pokkén Tournament
  • 2 TVs*
  • 2 Wii U LAN Adapters
  • 1 Crossover LAN Cable

* can be substituted for the Wii U GamePad display

NB: if you chose this option, you need to select “Wired” in the Internet settings section of the Wii U settings. You then have to launch a connection test, which will fail. After that, you need to save the connection, and then change its settings. You have to change the IPs of both Wii U to the following:

  • Wii U #1: 192.168.000.001
  • Wii U #2: 192.168.000.002

Subnet Mask needs to be set to 255.255.255.000, and Default Gateway to 192.168.000.050. As for the DNS settings, set it to Do not automatically obtain, with the Primary DNS to 1.0.0.0.

In-game, in order to activate LAN, you need to hold down L + R + Down on the D-Pad on the title screen. You need to return there in order to change controllers.

Day 1 update

Pokkén Tournament launches on March 18th worldwide, but in order to enjoy all features, you will first need to download a Software update. This update will bring the game to Ver. 1.1, but unfortunately, the official website doesn’t mention what it will add and/or fix. All we know is that some features (such as online play) will require the update.

The update will require at least 370MB of free space on your Wii U or external HDD. To download it, you will have two options:

  • let the Wii U download it automatically if you have automatic downloads activated;
  • if you don’t, you can manually trigger the download by launching Pokkén Tournament from the Home Menu (not the Quick Start Menu).
