Important note: updates are separate for Europe / North America (Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate) and Japan (Monster Hunter XX Nintendo Switch Ver.), so make sure you pay particular attention to which version of the game the updates below are for!

How to download updates for Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate / Monster Hunter XX Nintendo Switch Ver. for the Nintendo Switch?

To download the updates for Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate / Monster Hunter XX Nintendo Switch Ver. manually, you have three options:

  • let the console do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated, and didn’t completely turn it off

If not…

  • try to launch the game from the Home Menu while being connected to the internet. You should get a prompt when doing so: simply follow the instructions on screen;

OR

  • select the game > press either + or – to go to the Options page > select Software update > select Via the Internet.

To check that you have the latest version installed, simply press either + or – to go to the Options page: the Version Number is displayed below the game’s title.

Monster Hunter XX Nintendo Switch Ver. – Ver. 1.2.0

  • List of changes:
  • adds a new control type: “Type 4”
  1. you can use the ZL and ZR buttons to move the camera left and right respectively
  2. you can activate Hunting Arts using the R stick (Up: Hunting Art 1, Right: Hunting Art 2, Down: Hunting Art 3)
  3. you can switch the target of the target camera using the L stick
  • adds the option to swap the functions between the L and ZL buttons, as well as the R and ZR buttons
  • adds an option to change the functions associated with the direction buttons and the R stick

  • the crafting recipe for some pieces of armour has been altered
  • Additional notes: while the update isn’t required to play exclusively offline, it’s still recommended to download it as soon as possible!
