Dragon Quest VII: gameplay footage, more screenshots

After many years of wait, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past (the Nintendo 3DS remake of the PS1 classic) is finally about to be released in the west. The game will be available in a little over a month in Europe and North America, on September 16th to be more precise. One month, that’s not very long when initially, Square-Enix wasn’t even planning to release it outside Japan!

Today, a new batch of previews for the game went live. Along with those previews, Nintendo shared some more screenshots for the game: there’s 50 of them, and they can be found below!

But before that, there’s some official gameplay footage for you to check out. They showcase the following:

  • some exploration
  • battle introduction (for the very first battle)
  • a battle (the very first battle, against a bunch of slimey slimes)
  • the player laying down the yellow shardstone on the pedestal

Here’s a video with all gameplay footage segments shared by Nintendo put together:

As you can hear for yourself in the video, Square-Enix did chose to go with the MIDI soundtrack for the western version, instead of the orchestral arrangements of the Japanese version.

Finally, here’s the 50 new screenshots from the English version of the game:
