Yoshi’s Woolly World: Japanese overview video, amiibo video (UK)

Yoshi’s Woolly World still doesn’t have a release date in North America, but European and Japanese fans already know when they’re going to get the game:

– on June 26th in Europe;
– on July 16th in Japan.

Yoshi's Woolly World

Today, Nintendo revealed the usual overview video that most first-party games get before their release (though a bit earlier than usual). It highlights the main elements of Yoshi’s Woolly World, starting with the story (with Kamek kidnapping almost all the Yoshi, after transforming them into balls of yarns).

This overview video also showcases some of the collectibles, like the Wonder Wool (which unlocks special patterns for Yoshi). In order to find everything in each level, you will have to carefully examine all the suspicious nooks and crannies in every single of the 50+ levels available in the game!

If you collect enough beads, you can buy some power badges, which allow you to use special power-ups (only for the duration of the level). One of them summons Poochy, that you can ride over dangerous obstacles. If you find the game a tad too hard, there’s always Mellow Mode, which allows you to use Yoshi’s flutter indefinitely and gives you more health… just be careful, as you can still die in this mode!

Finally, we get a look at some of the transformations (Bike Yoshi, Giant Yoshi), the co-op, as well as the various patterns that you can unlock by scanning any of the 40+ amiibo. Each amiibo unlock a special pattern based on its character, with the exception of the Pokémon figures (which only give a regular pattern).

But if that’s not enough for you, here’s a second video showcasing the use of amiibo in the game:

Yoshi’s Woolly World (Wii U) comes out on June 26th in Europe, July 16th in Japan, and later this year.
