Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Expansion Pass Wave 3: where to find the new content (Archsage’s Gauntlet, Masha (new Hero), costumes)

Wave 3 of the Expansion Pass for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 comes out on February 15th in North America, and February 16th in Europe and Japan. Just like Wave 2, Wave 3 includes some juicy content such as a brand new type of Battle Challenges (Archsage’s Gauntlet), a new Hero (Masha), and some new costumes.

On this page, you will find details on how to find and access this new content. But before you read on, make sure you do following before trying to access the new content:

1. make sure to download the latest Software update for the game (check out this page for more details)
2. make sure to download the DLC data (which should be done automatically when downloading the latest Software update)
3. don’t forget to claim the additional content:
   1. launch the game and load up your save
   2. press X to access the Main Menu
   3. select Expansion Pass
   4. select Volume 3
   5. press Y to Receive Contents

New Hero: Masha

• Available from: Chapter 5
• How to unlock: complete her Hero Quest, called Lapidarist Extraordinaire
• Where to find it: received automatically upon receiving the DLC
  • Quests:
    • [Hero Quest] Lapidarist Extraordinaire (Lv. 43): received automatically upon receiving the DLC
    • [Ascension Quest] For the Sake of Keepsakes (Lv. 50): reach Level 10 with the Lapidarist class with at least one character, then head to the Camp in the City)

New type of Challenge Battles: Archsage’s Gauntlet

• Available from: Chapter 3
• How to access it (first playthrough):
  • complete the “More Challenge Battles!” Standard Quest (Lv. 20); you get it automatically after downloading the latest update and redeeming the contents of the Expansion Pass
    • find your way to the portal to the Land of Challenge. It is located somewhere in Llyn Nyddwr, in Ribbits Flats (Fornis Region). To access it, open up the map, select “Fornis Region”, then “Fornis Region, Full”. The closest teleport point is the Llyn Nyddwr Camp.
    • complete at least one Time Attack battle (on any difficulty)
    • talk to the Nopon Archsage
    • and… that’s it!

Once inside the Land of Challenges, simply talk to the Nopon Archsage and select Archsage’s Gauntlet!

New costumes: Throwback

• Available from: Chapter 3
• How to access it: each costume is available as a reward from the Archsage’s Gauntlet battles. Clear the following challenges to get the costumes and their variations:
  • Noah – Throwback A (Gauntlet: Pro – Rank A or better)
  • Mio – Throwback A (Gauntlet: Pro – Rank B or better)
  • Lanz – Throwback A (Gauntlet: Beginner – Rank A or better)
  • Eunie – Throwbac A (Gauntlet: Intermediate – Rank A or better)
  • Sena – Throwback A (Gauntlet: Beginner – Rank B or better)
  • Taion – Throwback A (Gauntlet: Intermediate – Rank B or better)

NB: you can complete the relevant challenges on any difficulty, all that matters is that you get Rank A or better! Do note that some of the challenges are only unlocked after Chapter 6 or after completing the game.
