Xenoblade Chronicles 2: a look at all the Rare Blades revealed via Twitter

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be released tomorrow (December 1st) worldwide, and today, Monolith Soft. revealed the last Rare Blade via Twitter (KOS-MOS Re:). It’s not clear whether all the Rare Blades have been revealed or if there’s still some that were kept secret for players to find by themselves, though.

On this page, you will find a recap of all the Rare Blades from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, revealed via the official Twitter account in Japan. Keep in mind that some of the names listed below are from the Japanese version of the game, since Nintendo didn’t share the official English names for them ahead of release. If there’s two names, the one in parantheses is the Japanese one.

First, here’s a video compilation of the tuning sequences for all the Rare Blades in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, revealed via Twitter:

And here’s details about the various Rare Blades:

  • Vasara (Basara): designed by Yasushi Suzuki, and voiced by KENN. He wields a pretty shiny and elaborate katana. His voice is said to make quite the contrast with his appearance, making him look even more mysterious. But what on earth is inside that gourd he’s holding in his left hand?
  • Finch: designed by Kunihiko Tanaka, and voiced by Aoi Yuki.
  • Floren (Hotaru): designed by taiki, and voiced by Kaori Ishihara. In battle, it looks like she’s dancing with that ball of hers… definitely one of the most graceful Blades we’ve seen so far!
  • Kubira: designed by hakus, and voiced by Mamoru Miyano. A truly gorgeous Blade, with a royal aura.
  • Azami: designed by hakus, and voiced by Chiwa Saitou. A beautiful yet mysterious (and a bit creepy…) Blade.
  • Uka: designed by Nakaba Higurashi, and voiced by M・A・O. She has what seems to be two dragon-like foxes on her back.
  • Raiko: designed by Asato Mizu (author of the Denkigai no Honya-san manga), and voiced by Himika Akenaya. Since her name is pretty close to one of the words used for “lightning” in Japanese (雷光, Raikou), it’s no wonder her element happens to be lightning… though her design already made that pretty obvious!
  • Tokiha: designed by Takahiro Kimura (with colouring by RICCA), and voiced by Ami Koshimizu. She has a pretty dignified look, and she uses a three-pronged spear as weapon.
  • Adenine (Shiki): designed by Kouji Ogata, and voiced by Mamiko Noto. As you can notice, she has… well… nothing where her stomach should be.
  • Newt (Nyuutsu): designed by Takeshi Nogami, and voiced by Youko Hikasa. It’s a military-style Blade, with giant, muscular floating arms. Her strength with the sword really is something else.
  • Gorg (Yuuou): designed by Soraya Saga, and voiced by Tomoaki Maeno. This Rare Blade uses the power of Water… He even has actual fins on his back and his limbs. Overall, it’s a pretty graceful Blade!
  • Zakuro: designed by Shunya Yamashita, and voiced by Chinatsu Akasaki. Her attribute is lightning, and in fact, she attacks using lightning bolt-shaped claws.
  • Vess (Musubi): designed by Kia Asamiya, and voiced by Miki Takahashi. She does look like some sort of Goddess.
  • Idaten: designed by I-IV, and voiced by Aya Hirano. It’s a really unique Blade, that happens to be quite… round. It’s does look quite cute, but also pretty odd at the same time (it certainly is unlike any other Rare Blade!).
  • Mei: designed by Yasuomi Umetsu, and voiced by Sayaka Senbongi. She features a gothic / punk design, so it’s pretty fitting her attribute would be darkness. Her thorny spear definitely looks deadly!
  • Wulfric (Jikarao): designed by Ryosuke Aiba (from CyDesignation), and voiced by Shunsuke Takeuchi. A powerful demon-looking Blade.
  • Teni: designed by Hideo Minaba (from CyDesgination), and voiced by Aya Endo. A woman riding a mecha dragon.
  • Godfrey (Guren): designed by Minoru Iwamoto (from Bandai-Namco), and voiced by Touru Furuya. A hot-blooded Rare Blade, with a strong sense of justice.
  • Yaegiri: designed by Minoru Iwamoto (from Bandai-Namco), and voiced by Ayana Taketatsu. A strong Blade, full of energy, always looking for strong opponents to battle.
  • Mikumari: designed by CHOCO, and voiced by Ayane Sakura. A cute Blade with the Water attribute, but don’t be fooled by her looks: she’s pretty deadly with that lance of hers.
  • Seori: designed by CHOCO, and voiced by Ayako Kawasumi. Since she uses an ice sword as weapon, it’s no wonder her attribute is Ice.
  • Linne / Rinner: designed by Parsley, and voiced by Ari Ozawa. She’s a pretty gorgeous Blade, who refers to herself as “Ojo-sama” (lit. Lady or Princess… though in that case, Princess might be more accurate as she is wearing a crown).
  • Wadatsumi: designed by Kozaki Yuusuke, and voiced by Shuuichi Ikeda. He protects his Driver using a shining sword.
  • Menou: designed by Kozaki Yuusuke, and voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki. She wields an axe made of crystal.
  • Kasane: designed by Shirabii, and voiced by Inori Minase. It’s described as a cute Blade, who uses a hammer in battle.
  • Tsuki: designed by Risa Ebata (from Satellite), and voiced by Naomi Shindo. She has the appearance of a mature woman, and her attribute is Ice;
  • Nanakoori: designed by Risa Ebata (from Satellite), and voiced by Rina Hidaka. A cute little girl with her polar bear, Kumari (teddy bears are so yesterday in Alrest!)
  • KOS-MOS Re:!: designed by Kunihiko Tanaka, and voiced by Mariko Suzuki. Yes, it’s that very same KOS-MOS from the Xenosaga series!
