WWE 2K18 announced for the Nintendo Switch

After FIFA and NBA 2K, another “sports” franchise is about to make its comeback on Nintendo consoles, thanks to the Nintendo Switch: WWE. Today, Take-Two Interactive announced that WWE 2K18 would indeed be released on Nintendo’s new console, this Fall. With WWE 2K18, WWE is releasing on a Nintendo platforms for the first time in 5 years, and on a portable device for the first time in 6 years.

According to Take-Two Interactive, this version of the game will not be based on last-gen versions. According to the press release, it features 8 man matches, a new grapple carry system, new weight detection, thousands of new animations, a massive backstage area, and more. Graphics-wise, Take-Two Interactive promisesa “visual overhaul” thanks to a brand new rendering engine.

As for new features, we have:

  • new MyCareer mode: a journey along the road to WrestleMania. Offers free-roaming backstages, conversations with WWE stars, and more. In this mode, you can form alliances, make enemies, seek quests, and more;
  • Road to Glory: a mode where you play against other players, in order to improve your MyPlayer. It allows you to unlock boosts and upgrades, but also entry into special events held alongside reallife WWE special events.

But that’s not all: the WWE 2K18 also offers plenty of customisation tools, including the new Custom Match option, and the Create-a-Superstar, Create-a-Video and Create-an-Arena (that all offer even more detailed features).

Finally, Take-Two Interactive promises “the most complete roster of the biggest and brightest WWE and NXT Superstars and Legends to ever grace a WWE ring.” No less…

If you pre-order the game, you will get not one, but two playable versions of Kurt Angle:

  • his WWE “American Hero” persona (2001)
  • his ECW “Wrestling Machine” persona (2006)
