Terraria: details on the Wii U version, gameplay footage

Update

We added a gameplay video about multiplayer: you will find it below, after the break!TerrariaLast year, the Nintendo 3DS version of Terraria was released on the Nintendo eShop, with the retail version hitting stores last month in Europe. Unfortunately, we still don’t know when the Wii U version will be available, but it looks like we don’t have much longer to wait before getting a release date.

NintendoLife recently had the opportunity to try out Terraria on Wii U, which allows us to get some details about this version of the game. We learn that it take full advantage of the touchscreen, which can be used to build with unparalleled precision. Of course, you can also use the GamePad to display a map instead, if you prefer.

We also have details about the multiplayer:

  • local: can be played with 2 players, with one on the TV, and one on the GamePad;
  • online: up to 8 players (4 on the same Wii U) in the same world.

In order to play with your friends or your family, you can use the GamePad (naturally), but also the Wii U Pro Controller, and Wii Remotes.

When it comes to content, Wii U owners have nothing to worry about: the Wii U version will have content parity with the other versions (up to 1.2.4). Of course, it will receive free updates on a regular basis, too.

Here’s some gameplay footage from the Wii U version of the game:

Head after the break for another video!

Terraria (Wii U) comes out later this year, worldwide.
