Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum ‘n’ Fun rated in Australia

Could the Taiko Drum Master finally be released outside Asia so many years after the last fully localised entry (back on the PlayStation 2)? It certainly looks like it, if a recent rating from the Australian Classification Board is to be believed. Last month, it gave the G classification to a game called Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum ‘n’ Fun, on Nintendo Switch.

This is most definitely Taiko Drum Master Nintendo Switch Version!, as there is no other Taiko Drum Master game on Nintendo Switch, and it’s unlikely Bandai-Namco went and developed a second one before the first one was even released, and just for western markets to boot. However, it’s not clear why the company is using the Japanese name of the series for this western release (especially since a localised name does exist).

We also don’t know if the song selection is the same one as in Japan, if the English translation is the same one as in Asia, if the famous Taiko Drums controller will also be released outside Japan, or when it will come out in Europe/Australia and North America…

In fact, we know absolutely nothing about this western release, other than “it’s happening”. We will have to wait for an official announcement to find out more about Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum ‘n’ Fun! on Nintendo Switch, and with the gamescom taking place next month, we probably don’t have too long to wait!
