Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin

Last week, it was announced that Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is getting an anime series by P.A Works, slated to premiere in Fall 2024 in Japan. Also, it was revealed that the game has now reached 1.5 million units shipped (retail copies shipped + digital sales) worldwide since launch.

Here’s a teaser video for the anime series:

Later this week, we will get the first sales data for Unicorn Overlord in Japan. But today, we got a glimpse at how well the game has been selling in that country thanks to a short blog post from Atlus. The publisher confirmed what many people in Japan have already noticed: the retail version is getting hard to find in stores. The post does not mention a specific version, but it appears the Nintendo Switch version specifically is hit the hardest.

Right now, Atlus is shipping more copies of the regular edition to retailers as quickly as possible, and they recommend players place a pre-order at their favourite retailer to ensure they get a copy in a timely fashion. Of course, they also mention the digital version of the game, particularly handy for players who just cannot wait.

Famitsu will share Week 1 data for Unicorn Overlord on Thursday, but we can already say that Vanillaware’s latest game has already exceeded both Atlus and retailers’ expectations!
