Super Mario Run releasing on December 15th (iOS), pricing revealed

Back in September, Nintendo made quite a stir when Super Mario Run was announced. It’s the very first game featuring Mario to be released on smart devices, and it looks like plenty of people are ready to try out this new Mario experience: over 20 million of them have pre-registered (as of October).

And today, Nintendo finally revealed the release date for Super Mario Run: it will launch on December 15th on iOS (iPhone and iPad, iOS 8.0 or later). We don’t have the exact time (yet), but Nintendo specifies that December 15th is for United States timezones. It will be available in a total of 151 countries:

As for languages, the following will be supported at launch:

  • English
  • Japanese
  • German
  • French
  • Spanish
  • Portuguese
  • Italian
  • Dutch
  • Russian
  • traditional Chinese

Unfortunately, the press release doesn’t mention the Android release at all, not even a “coming at a later date” (though the company has previously confirmed there would be an Android version later down the line).

As mentioned previously, Super Mario Run will be available for free, letting players try out elements from all three modes. That being said, to get access to all the content, you will have to pay a one-time fee: $9.99 / 9.99€ / 1 200 Yen / CA$ 13.99 / AU$ 14.99 / £7.99 / 749 rouble.

As a bonus, here’s a short animation from the official Twitter account:

Super Mario Run (iOS) comes out on December 15th worldwide. The Android version will follow at a later date.
