Super Mario Maker to come with “dozens” of pre-made courses

Update

Nintendo recently updated the page for Super Mario Maker, which now indicates that the game will include “dozens of sample courses”, including the four levels from the Nintendo World Championships 2015. Of course, none of this is really new, but it’s nice to have a final confirmation about the amount of levels included in the game.

Super Mario Maker will feature dozens of sample courses that are directly playable, and can help to inspire players in creating their own. Also included are the four courses featured in the Nintendo World Championships 2015**.

Following E3, last week, Nintendo of Europe put up a special page for Super Mario Maker on its official page. There isn’t too much information for now (the full website will be launch later, as we get closer to launch), but there’s one interesting tidbit that was spotted by a user on Reddit: the game will apparently include 100 pre-made course on disc.

Here’s what was written on the website:

Play: A Mario game that never ends!

By connecting to the internet*, you can download and play courses created by other players from all over the world! There are also 100 courses included that you can play without an internet connection.

But it looks like this information wasn’t supposed to be made public just now, and Nintendo promptly update the page, where only the following can be found right now:

Mario Maker

Therefore, it’s pretty clear Nintendo will make a separate announcement for this feature (most likely during the next Nintendo Direct). It’s quite probable those on-disc courses are the Top 100 courses made by the developers during development and testing.

But in any case, with 100 courses on disc, various challenges, extensive level creation tools and sharing options, Super Mario Maker is certainly shaping up to be one meaty game, definitely worthy of being the big celebration title for the Super Mario Bros. 30th Anniversary… quite the contrast with what the game was like, back at E3 2014!
