Suika Game: online mode to launch on May 23rd

When Suika Game first launched on Nintendo Switch, back in December 2021, it didn’t offer any multiplayer modes at all (neither local nor online). Then, in September 2023, the game went viral thanks (in great part) to online streamers (and especially Vtubers), leading to renewed interest in the game from Aladdin X. And a few months later, in February 2024, a Multi-Player Mode Expansion Pack was released, with online play to be added at a later date.

And thanks to a listing on the Nintendo eShop in Japan, we now know when that long-awaited online mode will be added to Suika Game: May 23rd! As previously announced, it will be available exclusively to players who already own the Multi-Player Mode Expansion Pack (which makes sense, given the base game is Single Player-only).

You can choose to play against random opponents or use rooms to invite other players (you can also join another player’s room, of course).

Here’s a reminder about the Multiplayer modes from the Multi-Player Mode Expansion Pack, which will be playable online starting May 23rd:

  • “”Original”” is the usual Suika Game, and the player with the highest score wins. Once the box is full, play ends at that point. If the other side’s score is higher, you win at that point. If you are losing, continue playing. Can you catch up to your opponent?!
  • “”Time Limit”” is a 5-minute intense competition, and the player with the highest score wins. When the rainbow gauge runs out, Poppy will drop fruits on her own, so you’ll need to make decisions faster than usual!
  • In “”Attack,”” the winner is the one who ends the opponent’s game. On every 5th attempt, you can send “”sinking”” fruit to your opponent’s box. Sending a big fruit would surely turn things around!
