Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns – Over 200 000 units shipped, first update coming

Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns came out on June 23rd in Japan, and is the latest entry in the Story of Seasons series (which celebrates its 20th Anniversary this year). Last week, Yoshifumi Hashimoto (Producer) posted a blog post on the official website, and announced that total shipments for this new entry had topped 200 000 units.

That number includes:

  • physical copies effectively sold (131 245 as of July 3rd)
  • digital copies sold
  • remaining copies at retailers

According to Media Create, Marvelous shipped about 163 000 units for the first week. It’s safe to assume Marvelous didn’t ship any additional copies yet (or very few), so unless digital sales are exceptionally good, there is still between 30-50 000 units left unsold at retailers (not a problem for them, as Story of Seasons games sell well in the long run). At this rate, the game should have no problem reaching 250 000 units when all is said and done.

Also, Yoshifumi Hashimoto announced that the first update for Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns is currently in the works. It will not only fixes various issues found in the final version of the game, but also add new elements. Unfortunately, we don’t know when exactly it will be released. One thing’s for sure: the western release will include the patch (and any other subsequent updates) from the getgo!

Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns (3DS) comes out next year in North America.
