This update brings the following to the game:

brings Nintendo Switch up to date with PC version

adds New Story mode

New Story mode brings completely reworked quests, dialogues and main story line for both single player and co-op modes. And yes, the story is now the same in both modes. That’s about 25 hours of brand new gameplay completely for free! It’s a great way to experience the game anew. We had a lot of feedback from our dear community and we did our absolute best to rework everything from scratch. We don’t want to spoil too much here, but we hope that you and your friends are excited to visit our tropical paradise again in both single player and co-op! Oh, and don’t worry about the old story: it will be available as well! If you want to try it, select “Children of the Ocean” when you start the game. But we highly recommend playing the new one first, as it will be the most complete experience you could get!

This update also adds Adventureland and Beach Resort DLCs with all of their content for free!

Fixed various errors in coop mode;

Fixed various problems with controllers;

Fixed an old bug with marriage;

We’ve also optimised the game to load faster;

We’ve changed the Host-Second player interaction the New Story coop mode: now, only the host can finish the active quests. Second player can still interact with all NPCs and do everything else. This was done to ensure maximum compatibility and stability of the gameplay in New Story.

Fixed rare issue, when achievements didn’t unlock for some players;

Fixed a very rare issue, when host’s and second players save files were swapped.

How to download updates for Spirit of the Island for the Nintendo Switch?

To download the updates for Spirit of the Island, you have three options:

let the console do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated, and didn’t completely turn it off

If not…

try to launch the game from the Home Menu while being connected to the internet. You should get a prompt when doing so: simply follow the instructions on screen;

select the game > press either + or – to go to the Options page > select Software update > select Via the Internet.

To check that you have the latest version installed, simply select the game on the Home Menu, and press – or + to go to the Options: the version number is displayed just below the game title.
