Shin Megami Tensei IV Final: some details about the story and the characters
Yesterday, Atlus revealed a new game for the Nintendo 3DS called Shin Megami Tensei IV Final. It will be featured in Famitsu this week, but we will not have to wait before the magazine is out before getting the first details about the story and the characters… they have already leaked! However, be careful: there are spoilers below (which is why we put the details after the break and the details about Sunday’s livestream!).
Livestream
As mentioned yesterday, Shin Megami Tensei IV Final will be showcased on Sunday during a livestream on Nico Nico. Here’s the program:
- 7PM to 8PM (JST) / 12PM to 1PM (CET) / 11AM to 12PM (BT) / 6AM to 7AM (EDT) / 3AM to 4AM (PDT): music from Shin Megami Tensei IV;

Character and story details
The story of Shin Megami Tensei IV Final takes places in the year 203X. Because of the gods wars that broke out 25 years ago, the sky of Tokyo is covered by a thick dome, making impossible any contact with the outside (in order to avoid destruction). But despite the end of the war, and Tokyo surviving, people go around killing each other, and humanity is dominated by angels and demons (who sit on top of the food chain).
Here’s some details about the main characters:
- Protagonist (voiced by Hiro Shimono): an apprentice from an organisation known as the “Outlaw Hunters”. During a mission, he is attacked by demons and dies.
- Mysterious demon (voiced by Shuichi Ikeda): he forms a contract with the protagonist, that he found wandering in the underworld after his death. He brings him back to life, and gives him a special power: the ability to summon demons.
- Asahi (voiced by Tomoko Seike): a 15 year-old girl, who happens to be the childhood friend of the protagonist. She also belongs to the Outlaw Hunters.
- Navarre (voiced by Shintaro Ohata): a character from Shin Megami Tensei IV. After his death (due to something really minor), he’s unable to rest in peace. When he finds the protagonist, he doesn’t waste a second before possessing him. In this game, he’s all green, with a chibi figure.
Finally, Famitsu reveals that Shin Megami Tensei IV Final is 90% complete right now, which isn’t all that surprising since the game is coming out on February 10th in Japan!
