Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition headed to retail next year

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero was released a few months ago on the Nintendo Switch, but only via the Nintendo eShop. If you’re waiting for the retail version, you’re in luck! WayForward announced earlier this week that Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition was headed to retail next year, worldwide (yes, that includes Europe!).

Naturally, the fact that it’s called “Ultimate Edition” makes it clear it’s not just the base game on a cartridge. This edition will also inlude the recently released Pirate Queen’s Quest DLC, but also two other modes:

• Friends Mode: Sky, Bolo, and Rottytops have to survive Shantae’s Nightmare and save their friend from doom
• Costume Mode: provides three new arcade-style adventure, with Ninja Shantae (dash, slash, and teleport), Beach Shantae (work on your tan!), and Officer Shantae (the Mighty Switch Force is with you!).

It’s not clear if the Ultimate Edition will also come with some physical goodies, but that’s probably something that will only be announced at a later date.

And if you don’t live in North America, there’s nothing to worry about: Europe and Japan will also get this retail version of the game, courtesy of PQube and Intergrow respectively.
