Renegade Kid: Jools Watsham and Gregg Hargrove part ways, separate studios opened

Renegade Kid are known for Mutant Mudds (Nintendo 3DS), Moon (Nintendo DS), and more. They’re among the most well-known and appreciated indie developers on Nintendo platforms. While Jools Watsham (co-founder) is the face of the company (that you always sees in interviews and the likes), he’s not working on his own: Gregg Hargrove (co-founder)… well, he does now.

Today, the two announced that Renegade Kid was no more. But don’t worry, Renegade Kid didn’t go under or anything: Jools Watsham and Gregg Hargrove simply decided to part ways after 10 years spent developing games together. Naturally, they will keep developing games, but with their own company: Atooi (Jools Watsham) and Infitizmo (Gregg Hargrove).

Wondering what happens to the various Renegade Kids IP? The two are splitting them that way:

  • Atooi: “2D” games, including the Mutant Mudds series and Treasurenauts
  • Infitizmo: “3D” games, including the Dementium series and Moon Chronicles

About upcoming projects, Jools Watsham will keep working on Treasurenauts at Atooi. At PAX West, this week, he will reveal a new game for the Nintendo 3DS. Unfortunately, it’s not clear what Infitizmo is working on at the moment.

Still, best of luck to both Atooi and Infitizmo!
