Puyo Puyo Chronicle: first trailer, screenshots, 3DS Theme pics, and more

Earlier this week, we found that a new Puyo Puyo game was headed to the Nintendo 3DS later this year. Called Puyo Puyo Chronicle, it will be released as part of the celebrations for the 25th Anniversary of the series. Unlike other games in the series, it’s a full-fledged RPG, with 3D characters and more.

Today, SEGA officially revealed the game following yesterday’s article in Famitsu. The publisher uploaded the very first trailer for the game, which can be found below. It shows some story cutscenes, some gameplay footage (exploration, battles), and more.

Here it is:

SEGA also provides additional details, and reveals that the various characters can learn various skill: using them in battle will allow you to deal lots of damage at once, and more.

The game has several modes besides the Story Mode, and can be played in Single Player (Puyo Puyo Alone), Multiplayer (Puyo Puyo Together), and even online (though not all rules are compatible).

Here’s some screenshots and the main visual for the game:

Next, here’s what the Puyo Puyo Chronicle Nintendo 3DS Theme looks like (it’s an early purchase bonus, not exclusive to the Anniversary Pack):

Finally, here’s the boxart of the Anniversary Box:

Here’s a reminder about the contents of that Anniversary Box:

  • Special packaging
