During the Nintendo Direct in January, a brand new game from Bandai-Namco was revealed. Originally known as Project Treasure, it got its first trailer during the Japanese Nintendo Direct in May (and the Nintendo Direct Micro that followed the next day), and back then, more info was promised for this Summer.

And today, Bandai-Namco opened the full official website for the game, revealing a trailer and the actual title at the same time: Lost Reavers.

0The trailer below allows us to get a great look at the gameplay of this 4 player co-op action game, in which you have to go explore ruins and other tombs in search of treasures (as the code name, Project Treasure, implied). Of course, it won’t be all that easy: the places are filled with monsters, including some nasty bosses which can be killed for additional riches. Apparently, whether you encounter bosses depends on the routes you take through the “dungeons”.

Gameplay is mostly in third person, except when you switch to firearms (that you can fire in First Person if you want), and is centered around co-op. When exploring the ruins, you will have to activate various devices, solve puzzles… but also fend off monsters who are trying to protect the treasure. Therefore, you will have to make sure the player solving a puzzle isn’t interrupted by a zombie in search of love!

The trailer shows that you can equip various pieces of equipments on your character:

  • Main weapon (example: shotgun)*
  • Secondary weapon (example: knives)*
  • Costume
  • Seal (Seal Box)
  • various items that go in the Item Box (special, consummable items)

*weapons have a cost, and you cannot equip some weapons if you don’t have enough points. The trailer shows the player with a total of 50 points, which allows them to equip two weapons worth 25 points.

In the trailer, we can see the number of equipment slots: they seem to vary, though it’s unclear if that depends on the character selected, your level, or if you need to use microtransactions to unlock more (as mentionned when the game was announced, Lost Reavers will be Free 2 Play, with in-game purchases. Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t say what the microtransactions are about).

On the official website, Bandai-Namco has uploaded the manual (only available in Japanese), and indicates that the online beta test for the game will start soon. No date is given for this beta, but since the Terms of Use version is from “September 3rd”, it most likely means it will start around that date (next Thursday).

Finally, here’s some screencaps from the website (including some from the manual):

Lost Reavers is an F2P online 4-player co-op action game for the Wii U.
