Prisma releasing a Playing With Power: Nintendo NES Classics book later this year

Last week, Nintendo announced the Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System. It’s basically a plug-and-play console with 30 NES classics built-in, which comes with a NES-replica controller. It will be released this November in Europe and North America (not Japanese release seem planned at this point). You can click here for more details about it if you somehow missed the news!

Prima is famous for their guides, and it turns out they’re going to release a book for the Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System, called Playing With Power: Nintendo NES Classics. Naturally, it’s not a guide for the 30 built-in game, but instead a book about the NES and its games.

Here’s what it contains:

  • Exclusive embossed slipcase holds this hardcover tome in a clever package that resembles a classic NES Game Pak!
  • A fascinating retrospective on 17 NES classics—including Super Mario Bros. 3, Donkey Kong, and The Legend of Zelda!
  • Interviews and commentary from Nintendo visionaries who pioneered this era of gaming.
  • A showcase of vintage advertising and priceless excerpts from Nintendo Power magazine back issues!
  • Plus hand-drawn maps, character and game environment art, and much more!

Here’s the list of games showcased in Playing With Power – Nintendo NES Classics: Balloon Fight, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Dr. Mario, Excitebike, Ice Climber, Kid Icarus, Kirby’s Adventure, Mario Bros., Metroid, Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream, StarTropics, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, The Legend of Zelda, and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.

Here’s the cover of the book:

If you’re interested in this book, you can pre-order it on Amazon: US / Canada / France / Germany / UK / Spain / Italy [NB: affiliate links]. Our Upcoming Releases page has been updated!
