PokéNews (June 8) – Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Eevee!, Pokémon 2019

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu & Eevee

In an interview with Famitsu, Tsunekazu Ishihara shared some additional details about Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu & Eevee and Pokémon 2019.

Let’s start with Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Eeevee!. The interview doesn’t reveal anything really new: Tsunekazu Ishihara explains that the catching mechanic and the overall tempo are quite different from the original game. As seen in the reveal trailer, two players can play together, and catch Pokémon together.

Speaking of catching Pokémon: The Pokémon Company has confirmed that motion controls will be mandatory, in all playstyles (even Handheld Mode). In TV and Tabletop Mode, you shake the Joy-Con, and in Handheld Mode, you move the console around to aim and press A to throw a Poké Ball.

Even though this is a remake of Pokémon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition, it will feature new elements.

Finally, if you’re headed to E3 2018 this year, make sure to drop by Nintendo’s booth: the game will be playable on Nintendo’s booth (and will not require a ticket, unlike Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch).

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu & Eevee (Switch) comes out on November 16th worldwide.

Pokémon 2019

In an interview with Famitsu, Tsunekazu Ishihara shared some additional details about Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu & Eevee and Pokémon 2019.

Tsunekazu Ishihara explains that the new Pokémon game announced for 2019 will be quite different from Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Eevee (which is positioned as a introductory game for new players, especially those who have only played Pokémon GO).

This new game is aimed at more experienced fans instead: it’s more “conventional”, and more precisely a (natural) evolution of the Pokémon series by Game Freak. It will feature improved graphics over previous Pokémon games, plenty of new Pokémon, and more.

This new Pokémon game will be released in the second half of 2019.
