Pokémon GO

Are you playing Pokémon GO on an Apple device that cannot be updated to iOS 11? If yes, you will soon have to get a new phone/tablet if you want to keep playing. Niantic announced today that as of February 28th, support for those devices would end, officially as a “result of improvements to Pokémon GO that push the application beyond the capabilities of the operating systems on such devices”.

What happens after February 28th? Well, you will no longer be able to access your Pokémon GO account from that device, or use PokéCoins or other items in your bag. In order to keep playing, you will have to switch to a more recent device.

Here’s the list of devices impacted:

  • iPhone 5c (2013): A1456, A1507, A1516, A1529, A1532
  • iPhone 5 (2012): A1428, A1429, A1442
  • iPad (4th generation) (Late 2012): A1458, A1459, A1460
  • iPad (3rd generation) (Early 2012): A1416, A1430, A1403
  • iPad mini (1st generation) (Late 2012): A1432, A1454, A1455
  • iPad 2 (2011): A1395, A1396, A1397

If your device isn’t on this list, then you have nothing to worry about, even if you haven’t updated to iOS 11 (yet).
