PokéNews (Dec. 20): Pokémon GO update / Pokémon Shuffle content

Today’s Pokémon news: another update releasing for Pokémon GO, but also…

  • Pokémon Shuffle

Pokémon GO

Today, Niantic began releasing the latest update for Pokémon GO. It brings the game to Ver. 0.51.0 (Android) / 1.12.0 (iOS), and provides the following fixes/changes:

  • The bug that caused incorrect vibration notifications has been fixed.
  • Day and night modes have changed to more accurately reflect the Trainer’s current time of day.
  • Minor text fixes.

The update should be available for your device soon, and may not be available yet as you’re reading this.

Speaking of Pokémon GO, remember the special event with Lapras held in Japan? Well, it looks like it was a real success (despite it ending prematurely due to the earthquake on November 21st), as it attracted 100 000 visitors to the Miyagi prefecture (10 000 on November 12th), where it took place. The economic impact is estimated to be about 2 billion Yen.

A representative from the Department of Tourism at the Miyagi prefecture explained the amount of visitors is superior to what they were expecting. The whole event was set up to help the region, which was one of those that were the most impacted by the Tohoku earthquake from 2011.
