PokéNews (Aug. 28): Pokémon Sun and Moon (anime)

Today’s Pokémon news: special episodes of the Pokémon Sun and Moon anime series coming next month, but also…

  • Pokémon Tretta Lab
  • Pokémon Championships

Pokémon Sun and Moon – Anime

Thanks to scans from the TV-kun magazine, we just found out that the Pokémon Sun and Moon anime series was getting two special episodes next month, on September 14th and September 21st. What’s so special about those episodes, you ask? Well, they will feature two characters from the original Pokémon anime series, that we haven’t seen in a long while… Brock (Takeshi) and Misty (Kasumi).

Those two episodes are part of a story arc that sees Ash / Satoshi travel back to Kanto, for a school project. There, he will visit his old Pokémon, but also his two old friends. Naturally, he will get to battle them, with Brock (Takeshi) using a Mega Steelix, and Misty using a Mega Gyarados.

Pokémon Tretta Lab

A few years ago, The Pokémon Company released Pokémon Tretta Lab on Nintendo 3DS: a special app meant to work with the puck from the Pokémon Tretta game (on Arcade, now discontinued). To read the pucks, and use the various features of the game, you needed a special accessory sold at retail, which was also the only way to get the QR code required to download the app.

Unfortunately, the app will soon be discontinued, and will no longer be downloadable from the Nintendo eShop after August 31st. This comes as no surprise, as the accessory itself was discontinued back in 2015, and didn’t work on the New Nintendo 3DS.
