Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon: latest trailers and details (Ultra Beasts, Ultra Wormholes, more)

Today, The Pokémon Company one again updated the official website for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, providing us with even more details about the game. We also have not one, but two brand new trailers for the game!

Let’s start with those two trailers:

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon – Pokémon

Today, a brand new Ultra Beast was revealed, and we now have more details about two that were previously revealed.

First, here’s the new Ultra Beast… UB Adhesive!

  • Category: Poison Pin Pokémon
  • Type: Poison
  • Height: 2’00”
  • Weight: 4.0 lbs.
  • Ability: Beast Boost

UB Adhesive displays many emotions, and it’s said to be able to understand human speech if it spends enough time together with them. Their large heads are filled with venom, and they fire this venom from the poisonous needles on top of them.

Next, UB Assembly!

  • Category: Rampart Pokémon
  • Type: Rock/Steel
  • Height: 18’01”
  • Weight: 1807.8 lbs.
  • Ability: Beast Boost

While UB Assembly may appear to be made up of stones stacked atop one another, apparently each “stone” is in fact a separate life-form, and this UB is made up of an assemblage of these life-forms. When confronting another, or when feeling particularly enraged, the eyes on each of these stones begin to glow red.

And finally, UB Burst!

  • Category: Fireworks Pokémon
  • Type: Fire/Ghost
  • Height: 5’11”
  • Weight: 28.7 lbs.
  • Ability: Beast Boost

UB Burst tricks targets into letting their guard down as it draws near with its funny gait, swaying this way and that—then shocks them by blowing up its own head without warning. Before they can recover their senses, it steals their vitality, which it’s said to use as a source of energy. Its head is made up of collection of curious sparks, and it appears to have the wondrous ability to freely remove its own head and make it explode!

UB. Burst can use a special Fire-type move called Mind Blown, which sacrifices half of its maximum HP in order to deal damage. This is quite appropriate for a Pokémon that attacks by blowing up its own head! And don’t be fooled: it may look (oddly) comical, this move really hurts.

Just like in Pokémon Sun and Moon, you will meet different Ultra Beasts depending on the version you choose. In Ultra Sun, it’s UB Burst that you will get to meet, while you will have to go with Ultra Moon if you want UB Assembly.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon – Alola

In this game, you will be able to ride on the back of Solgaleo and Lunala… but not as Poké Ride! Those two allow you to travel through an Ultra Wormhole, and reach the worlds that lie beyond. Just you try and do that with Charizard!

But what are Ultra Wormholes, exactly? Well, if you’ve played Pokémon Sun and Moon, you’ve already seen one. Basically, they’re strange pockets of space, where countless warp holes leading to different worlds can be found… including the home worlds of the Ultra Beasts!

One of the places you can reach via those warp holes is called the Ultra Megalopolis: a world that has had its light stolen by Necrozma. A mysterious tower-like building shining with brilliant light can be found there.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will also have you meet the Ultra Recon Squad: a mysterious group of people that has come from one of the worlds lying beyond the Ultra Wormhole. As for why they came to Alola in the first place, no one knows… you will have to play the game to find out by yourself!

The members of the Ultra Recon Squad are: Dulse, Zossie, Phyco, and Soliera. Depending on which version you play, the story will unfold from somewhat different perspectives. For example, in Pokémon Ultra Sun, Dulse and Zossie play a central role, while in Pokémon Ultra Sun, it’s Soliera and Phyco that play it.

For some reason, the Ultra Recon Squad bring with them UB. Adhesive, one of the new Ultra Beasts (see above for more details).

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon (3DS) comes out on November 17h worldwide.
