Pokémon news (April 29th) – Pokémon Store at Narita Airport, reminders

Pokémon Center

Today, The Pokémon Company opened a new Pokémon Store in Japan, this time located at the Narita Airport. Obviously, airplanes-related goodies are sold there, including two incredibly cute plushies of Pikachu as a Pilot and a Flight Attendant.

Here’s some pictures from The Pokémon Company:

Pokémon Global Link

Back on April 3rd, maintenance for The Pokémon Global Link caused a glitch involving Pokémon with nicknames, in the Battle Spot. The developers’ solution was to show nicknames, but this was only temporary. Yesterday, more maintenance was performed, and the glitch was permentaly fixed: nicknames no longer appear in the Battle Spot.

The developers also improved the hack check system: now, if a player is detected having hacked Pokémon while in the Battle Spot, they will be automatically disconnected. Of course, this won’t have any impact on the other players, as their stats will remain unchanged. Regular disconnections (even those caused by unstable internet connections) will still be penalised, though.

Pokémon Championship Series – Australia

The Pokémon Company has given more details about the Pokémon Championship Series in Australia. It was announced that the National Championships will take place on June 6th to June 8th at the Melbourne Park Function Centre (Melbourne).

Here’s the planning for each day:

– Saturday: Qualifying Rounds (TCG), Pre-Registration (Video Game)
– Sunday: Qualifying Rounds (Video Game)
– Monday: Finals (Video Game and Trading Card Game)

Hidden Ability Tyrunt

A quick reminder for players who participated in the Battle of Hoenn Battle Competition, back in January.

You have until tomorrow (April 26th), 11.59PM UTC, to get your special Tyrunt with Sturdy as its Hidden Ability (which changes to Rock Head when it evolves). To get it, you need to click on the page that appears when you connect to the Pokémon Global Link, get your code, and then use it via the Mystery Gift menu in Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire.

Pokémon Shuffle

On April 20th, a new event was launched in Pokémon Shuffle: the Pokémon Safari. If you haven’t tried it yet, you shouldn’t wait too long before doing it, because it will end this Saturday (May 2nd) at 6AM UTC.

Here’s the 5 different Pokémon you can get:

– Cherrim
– Cherubi
– Carvanha
– Sharpedo
– Spinda
