Pokémon Bank to be updated, will allow transfer from Red/Green/Blue/Yellow to Sun/Moon

Pokemon BankToday, during the Pokémon Direct, it was announced that Pokémon Red Version / Green Version / Blue Version / Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition would be compatible with the Pokémon Bank service. However, this compatibility will not be available right at launch, and what’s more, the transfer feature will only work for transfer towards Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.

But before that, Pokémon Bank will receive “major updates”, which will be required for the Pokémon Red Version / Green Version / Blue Version / Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition compatibility. Of course, players will also be able to transfer their Pokémon from Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire.

A little warning about transfers from Pokémon Red Version / Green Version / Blue Version / Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition:

Due to certain limitations, it is recommended that you install Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, and Pokémon Yellow on the same Nintendo 3DS system as Pokémon Bank.

Finally, The Pokémon Company confirms that you will not be able to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Red Version / Green Version / Blue Version / Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition directly to Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire.
