Plunder Panic – Ver. 2.3 (The Dueling Dinghy Update)

  • Release date: June 30th 2023 (North America, Europe, Japan)
  • Patch notes:
  • New Island: Viking Village – The Norse who find their home in the frozen lands of the Viking Village have a lot in common with pirates but also a unique flair for hand-to-hand combat with their wooden shields. They also love their boats, and even have two Death’s Row dinghies, creating a dueling dinghy challenge for crews that dock upon these shores.
  • New Island: Buzzing Bazaar – This is an infamous trading post for pirates, criminals, and shady businessmen. Travel the bouncy tent tops to get a jump on your competition or ride the magic carpet through the skies. Many a traveler has been lured to these shores in seek of the wishes held within the genie’s lamp.
  • Updated Island: Shipwreck Shanty – A couple ropes have been dropped from the shipwreck’s rigging to create a line of rope swings that allows an agile pirate to quickly traverse from one pirate ship to another.
  • Updated Island: Kaiju Cove – Mangled trees have sprouted at the top of Kaiju Cove that drop unique seeds filled with items that may be useful to ye crew.
  • New Item: Shield – This item not only protects ye from an attack, but it also allows you to redirect an incoming projectile back toward yer enemy! Take heed: the shield is made of wood, so it can only take one hit before it breaks.
  • New Modify-arr: Shields Up – With this modify-arr, all pirates will spawn with a Shield equipped! Be careful when launching projectiles at a shielded opponent, as they’re likely to end up flyin’ right back at ye!
  • New Modify-arr: No Scope – This modify-arr takes the scope off of all harpoon guns, making them only as easy to aim as something ye could throw!
  • New Game Mode: King of the Hill – Capture the territory and reclaim what was ours, argh! In this new game mode, yer crew gains points by capturing the hill and keeping enemies out of it. Every few moments, the hill will change location, so be quick to reach it first. Rowboat and cannon victories will take away from yer opponents score, and gold victories will add to yours.
  • New Game Mode Option: Starting Weapon – Tired of yer captain being the only one to start with a weapon? With the new “Starting Weapon” game mode option, you can equip the entire crew for battle with swords, blunderbusses, or harpoon guns (if unlocked).
  • Campaign Update: Chapters 45-54 – The single player campaign has been expanded to include four new chapters and updates for six previous chapters to integrate the new islands, items, and modify-arrs.
  • Ranked Play Improvements – Ranked play is now scheduled to help concentrate pirates seeking ranked matches to specific times during the week.
  • And Much More – There are many additional sound effects, quality of life enhancements, and bug fixes!

Plunder Panic – Ver. 2.2 (The Swab the Deck Update)

  • Release date: May 19th 2023 (North America, Europe, Japan)
  • Patch notes:
  • Graphical Polish – We did a graphical pass across all the islands to make sure everything was “Pirate Pixel Perfect”.
  • SFX Polish – We added over 50 new sound effects and fixed a few SFX playback bugs to promote a richer auditory experience.
  • Gameplay Polish – We did some minor adjustments to the gameplay, most notably tweaking some of the level hazards. We also added a level hazard to the Blimp Out of Time island.
  • AI Polish – Speaking of gameplay, we included some minor updates to the AI pirates to address some of their odd behaviors at times.
  • User Interface Polish – The out-of-game user interface also received some love, most notably the Online Match screens, the Bounty screen, and the Pirate Code (game options) book.
  • Character Select Polish – We squashed two bugs in the character select, including one where you could get two pirate select cursors controlled by one controller AND one where you would be able to have two captains on your crew. Given the potential for mayhem coming from the Item Crate, we also made pirates invincible after dying for a brief period of time within the Character Select.
  • Additional Bug Squashing – No pirate wants to share their boat with bugs, so we squashed all reported bugs on our list!
  • Rating System in Campaign – We added a rating system to the Campaign for those players that want to win at all things in life. Can ye earn three pirate coins on all 50 chapters?

Plunder Panic – Ver. 1.10 (The Booty-ful Update)

  • Release date: September 30th 2022 (North America, Europe, Japan)
  • Patch notes:

NEW GAME MODE: Gold Rush

  • This update is all about the BOOTY! In Gold Rush, you have one goal: fill your chest with as much gold as possible within the time limit. Watch out though, because if your ship sinks by cannonballs or Death’s Row, you can kiss a large chunk of your gold goodbye!

NEW ISLAND: The Crystal Geysers

  • Wow, this island sure is booty-ful! The geysers at the bottom are your only way up, be sure to time your jumps right before they go back down!

NEW ISLAND: Mayan Ruins

  • Sssssimply ssssspectacular! If you want to take control of this stage, you’ll need to climb the giant Quetzalcoatl that guards the ruins. Watch out for those wing flaps!

NEW ISLAND: Desert Sphinx

  • Going up? Well, you will be if you get caught in one of the desert’s frequent sandstorms. These gusts will launch you (and any items) up to the top of the stage if touched. Watch out for flying Squidshots!

NEW ITEM: Cursed Gold

  • Beware the Cursed Gold… place this item in your opponents chest to give them a stack of cursed gold. A team cannot win through the gold victory condition if there are any pieces of cursed gold in their chest, and they’ll need to dig them out.

NEW ITEM: Throwing Axe

  • I was trying to think of an axe joke for this, but I’m not very cleaver! You’ll need to sharpen your skills with this new throwable item. It travels in an arc and is useful for taking out enemies above you. And crewmates rejoice, it can even cut the cannon wick!

GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS:

  • There is a new trajectory arrow for throwable items, which is very useful to have with the new Throwing Axe. (Try holding down the button!)
  • AI Improvements
  • SFX tweaks and updates
  • Various bug fixes
