Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate – Details about multiplayer modes
Over 12 years following its original release, Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds is making its return on modern consoles as Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate, out on April 17th worldwide.

“Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate” is a side-scrolling beat’em up with the heart of a fighting game, supporting cross-platform pixel art anime action with up to 8P online multiplayer and all the characters from “Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Overdrive”!
Entirely rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5, the game now boasts various enhancements, such as:
- enhanced graphics
- improved frame rates
- higher resolution
- new characters (enemies are now playable in Arcade Mode)
- full soundtrack remaster
Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate will feature various multiplayer modes, playable both online and locally:
- couch co-op (up to 4 players)
- cross-platform multiplayer (up to 6 players)
- Online VS mode (up to 8 players on other platforms, up to 4 players when hosted by players on Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch players can join session hosted on other platforms for the full 8 players experience).
Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate (Switch) comes out on April 17th worldwide.
