Improvements & Adjustments
Social Improvements

With the addition of more Party Buffs and rewards, we want to make it easier for players to party up with each other and figure out where their friends are, so we have added a few improvements to the Social Panel:

  • We have made it easier to keep track of where your party members are in the world – Bring on the X-ray vision as you can now spot their name plates through walls and more!
  • You’ll also be able to see when other players are “Looking for Party” with an icon next to their name plate when exploring the world.
  • You can now tell which map your friends are on!
  • You no longer need to wait for your friend to invite you to their server and can now make the proactive choice to join their server instead.
  • The Party UI has a few additions to improve its look

Missed out on Frogbert?
  • Don’t worry – while Kaiju Frogbert has disappeared from the Kilima Fields, Zeki has captured the littlest Frogbert plush and you now have the chance to win it from Zeki’s Machine and to pair it with the Big Frogbert plush login reward (above).
You can now fish in the Black Market Underground!
  • A new fishing spot has been uncovered in the center of the Black Market! Cast a line in between hotpot games and here, you will be able to catch the same types of fish that you would find in caves.

Health bars will appear above creatures you’re hunting.
  • The health bar will display once a creature takes damage from either you or someone in your party (when you are within range of that party member).
Loot bag icons will now appear on your compass.
  • After hunting a creature, dazing an insect or woodcutting, you’ll see a loot bag icon appear on your compass to guide you to its location. No more playing hide-and-seek with loot bags!

Brightness (Gamma) settings are now available on the Nintendo Switch.
The Water Temple now has a dedicated map.
  • Our Palian cartographer got a bit lost wandering through the Temple of the Waves but has finally made their way out! You will now be able to see a custom map in this temple.
Premium Store Updates
You can now browse through different types of cosmetic content in the Premium Store.
  • We hope the addition of tabs / sections make it easier for you to find something that suits your style!

Introducing Landscapes, new ways to customize your home plot to make your dream home even better!
  • Landscapes are the newest customization options in the Premium Store and will visually update the environment surrounding your home plot with a fresh, new destination.
  • We have 3 landscapes in the Premium Store: Wooded Grove, Kilima Heights, and Shipwreck Isles.

Name Landscape Type Price per Landscape
Wooded Grove Set your home in a wooded haven, full of lush green trees and forest flair. 425 Palia Coins

New Features & Updates
Friendship Level 5 Quests are now available for the following villagers: Jina, Hekla, and Einar.
Now available: The Grand Harvest House!

Ready to bring your home to the next level? Literally?! You can now purchase the Grand Harvest House, which features a second story, a spiral staircase indoors, and a porch area at the front.

Q: Are you able to expand out more rooms or have other additions to the second story of the house? A: Not at the moment, but we’re definitely looking to add more options in future updates!

Let your creativity run wild with the new Building Blocks system!

This is for all the Palians who need that extra flexibility that existing building add-ons don’t quite have. You can now use a variety of shapes to build structures, sort of like blocks. Hence the name!

“We love being surprised by the delightful new ways our community has managed to turn the decoration they collect into new and interesting configurations, so we wanted to give players even more options! Keep your eyes on future patches as we look to add more styles for even more options.” – S6 Aidan

The following items are now available:

Building Blocks have a limit of 1,000 pieces (which falls under the max limit of 3,000 total decor).

Books? Books. As in, you can now collect and add books as placeable decor.

The following items are now available:

You can obtain all of them from a new register located at the Kilima Village Library. Caleri is thankful for your patronage and support of literature.

The following items can be obtained from hunting their respective Muujin:

The following items can be obtained from catching their respective Insect:

White Picket Fence recipes are now available at Tish’s store.

The following items are now available:

Chat Bubbles are in!

You can now play the Hotpot minigame at the Underground Black Market!

How Zeki managed to find and install several of these hotpot tables remains a secret with him, it seems.

Improvements & Adjustments

Muujin will now carry over their health even after escaping.

Previously, their health would be reset to full.

Party members will now share loot for most gathering activities.

Players who are near their party members will now receive loot for actions their party members did – so if your friend can one-shot a Sernuk, you’ll share in on the loot. In addition, the loot dropped will be the same across each player. Yes, that includes Plushies! Skills this change applies to:

[PC] Additional graphics settings have been added.
[Switch] Other player character models that are not fully rendered will now have a “ghost” silhouette as a better indication of their presence
Economy Updates

In case you missed it, we outlined several details and the reasoning behind these changes in our latest Dev Note that you can read here. These changes are aimed at improving the onboarding experience for new players at the earlier stages of the game and to make the value of engaging in each of the gathering skills more equitable.

The limits to Gold and Renown have been increased.
A few quests have had their Gold and Renown rewards increased.
Drop chances for decor and plushies from Zeki’s Machine have been increased.
The Gold earned from gathering skills (Foraging, Insect Catching, Hunting, and Fishing) have been rebalanced for more even distribution.

The sell value for most Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary items have been adjusted—with a majority being increased.

That said, for Mining, the sell values for Starstones have been reduced so the skill is more in-line with other gathering skills in terms of overall earning potential.

Examples (by Base Sell Value) include:

Over half of all furniture decor and crafter recipes have been adjusted to cost less in terms of requirements.

Overall, we targeted recipes that felt overly costly and brought them closer to average values. As mentioned in the Dev Update, about 50% of Worktable recipes have changed, with over 85% of those having their recipe costs reduced.

Examples include:

The time it takes to craft Silver and Gold Bars have been reduced.
The amount of Gold in both Kilima Village and Bahari Bay treasure chests have been increased across the board.

Note: This is not retroactive for those who have collected all the chests, but the intention is to benefit new and early-game players to help them get started.

We’ve removed more common drops such as Stone and Sapwood from Rummage Piles.

Goodbye, single Stone!

Amber will now drop at a chance when you chop trees.

As part of our Economy Update, trees will now have a rare chance to drop amber to help incentivize this Skill as a means to earn some gold.

The following items are now available:

Some additional details:

All Flow-Infused Wood drops have been increased.

Generally speaking, the amount of Flow-Infused Wood obtained will scale better based on the size of the tree.

The cost to purchase the Copper Storage upgrade has been decreased.
You will now receive free buildings for reaching specific levels in the Furniture-Making Skill early on.

2 Small Room
3 Kilima Porch
4 Fireplace Addon
5 Medium Room
6 Kilima Bay Window
7 Kilima Pavilion

New Features & Updates
The login screen and Kilima Village have an updated look, just in time for Spring!

Friendship Level 5 Quests are now available for the following villagers: Ashura, Zeki, Tish, and Reth.

“We know a lot of people are eager to learn more about the lovable cast of Palia. Their stories will continue, and we plan to slowly add more over time.”

A new building is now available: the Courtyard.

Bahari Bay Flowers have been added.

Insects in Bahari Bay now have a chance to drop Flower Seeds.

The following items have been added:

Meet Cyl the Green Plush!

“We were so inspired by the community reaction to a very visible bug that appeared in 177, this was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up. There’s no limit to how many you can get, so why not build a whole army of Cyl?!” – S6 Eris

The new Ammo Pouch is now available.

It’s finally here! Arrows, Smoke Bombs, and Fishing Bait will now appear in this tab. You can access it from your Inventory.

The Ammo Pouch starts with one row unlocked, and you can expand more at the General Store — just like the Backpack.

A Tailor Shop Changing Room has appeared in Bahari Bay!

Even adventuring shouldn’t stop you from looking fab. Just the little suitcase wouldn’t do for Jel, so he’s ordered a proper building in its place. (This service acts just like a wardrobe, and can be found by the Central Stables.)

Improvements & Adjustments
The amount of Friendship Points granted from various quests relating to Ashura, Zeki, Tish, and Reth have been balanced with the addition of Friendship Level 5 Quests.

We will be sending compensation to those who have completed Friendship Level 4 Quest as a result of this adjustment.

Criteria:

Compensation:

The Map will now show a coordinate grid.

This has been a long-requested feature, and should help out with group play alongside Flare Arrows. “Disco deer at B4!”

Temples will now have a dedicated map.

In an effort to help players navigate these special areas, you’ll be able to see a custom map in each space.

There is now an Unstuck button you can quickly access in menus.

Previously, the only option was to type it out in chat, which we knew was a challenge especially for Switch and controller users. This option should make it more accessible.

Planted Trees in the Housing Plot have been visually updated to no longer have the “dirt mound” around the base.
Air Gusts in the Temple of the Gales have been improved to better carry the player.

Palia – Ver. 0.178.1

Palia – Ver. 0.178

New Features & Updates
The Temple of the Roots is now available for you to explore!

The next big chapter of Palia’s story is here, with plenty of puzzles and hidden secrets abound. We hope players enjoy putting on their best spelunking hat and discovering all the details, big and small, that we’ve put into this earth-bound area.

Beginning this quest line requires completion of the quest “Vault of the Gales” to begin. Speak with Einar to kick off the adventure!

A new vault has been added to the Temple of the Roots.
The final remaining pieces of the Emberborn Furniture set are now available.

You will receive the Emberborn Reed Planter recipe from completing the Temple of the Roots, and this will trigger inspiration for the rest of the items:

You can now obtain Flower seeds from Insects and grow them in your Housing Plot.

“We can’t wait to see all the beautiful gardens Palians will make with these flowers. And be sure to expect even more options in the future.” — S6 Nikhil

Flowers are grown in 2 stages, and will advance in their growth with (diligent) watering. They do not need to be planted in gardening soil, so plant them wherever your heart desires!

Every time you catch an insect in Kilima (not in Bahari), there will be a chance for it to drop a flower seed. Or, for those who are less insect-inclined, Auni will also be providing these seeds in his Guild Store. See if you can collect them all:

Additionally, tree seeds will work a little differently now.

Trees will now need to grow when planted. Seeds will still be dropped from chopped trees, and when planted on your plot they’ll start small. But planted trees will grow into their gorgeous adult sizes over time (and watering!)

Trees will have 4 growth stages, and can be chopped down at any time. We also have 4 different types of trees to collect:

A new springtime furniture set, from your favorite Bard.

Fresh from Badruu’s Crop Store are his picks for furniture: the Spring Fever set! This includes the:

And possibly even more exciting: a new invention Badruu calls “garden edges!” You can scoop up the following:

Adjustments

A GIANT FROG PLUSH HAS INVADED KILIMA VILLAGE.

What does he want? Does he come in peace?

Several improvements to climbing have been made.

Overall, it should feel better! We know a lot of folks have given feedback on this, and it’s been an ongoing project that we can finally say is now in the game. Of course, there is always room for improvement , so we welcome feedback and suggestions.

Additional Controller Support features have been added.
For Nai’o fans: he now has additional animations, especially when idling.

*“More characterization! More handshum. :3c” – S6 Vega *

We’ve also made improvements to the new player experience.
The “Prove Your…” questline has gotten a few adjustments.
Premium Store Updates
Three New Outfit Bundles have been added to the Premium Store, available immediately.

When two or more Palians wearing an outfit from either the Bridal Party set or Well Groomed set are near each other, there will be a special effect! It grows as more people gather together in these outfits, up to five players.

A Wedding Glider Bundle is now available for purchase.
Got that dawg in you?
Four Additional Outfit Bundles will be added to the Premium Store on April 9th.

Adjustments
Luna New Year and the Maji Market have come to an end.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this second iteration of the Maji Market. Seeing all the positive reactions and fun everyone had (with the Hotpot mini-game especially!) has been an incredible experience. We fully intend to have the market return again, even bigger and better with all our learnings. Please look forward to more Events for Palians to enjoy.

Bok Choy Seeds, Napa Cabbage Seeds, and Soy Sauce are now purchasable at Zeki’s Store.

With the conclusion of Luna New Year, these crops are now accessible alongside other crops within Zeki’s Store.
*Please note, this has always been the intention to make it available in the General Store following the end of Maji Market, but it was reported differently in the previous patch notes. It has since been corrected, and we apologize for the misunderstanding.

Several Dish Recipes introduced in Luna New Year are now accessible at Reth’s food counter in the Inn.

You can now go directly to Bahari Bay from your Housing Plot!

Mining nodes will now behave more like forageable items—once a node is cleared, it’ll remain available to other users and disappear after a set amount of time.

Here’s how it works:

“We’ve been seeing how players react to Palium nodes, and understand how important it is that people don’t feel burdened into playing a specific way. With these changes, you can call out a node and move on without feeling pressured to wait for other players. This feedback has been very valuable to us, and we hope to continue improving things in a way that supports a variety of playstyles.” – S6 Forseti

Forageable items will now also have a “despawn” glow effect after being foraged on other players’ screens.

We’ve extended the duration flare arrows stay active to support the change to mining nodes.

The Chatbox and Social Panel has been removed from the Lobby screen at the start of the game.

Premium Store Updates
Five New Outfit Bundles have been added to the Premium Store.

Palia – Ver. 0.176

New Features & Updates

Maji Market is back at the Kilima Fairgrounds!

Come one, come all! Whether you are a returning event-goer or this is your first experience, the Maji Market welcomes all Palians to discover this wonderful celebration. Now, it’s back with an even greater purpose: to revel in the Luna New Year.

“We’re excited for the Maji Market to return just in time for the new year. We’ve learned a lot based on your feedback and hope that players can see some of the improvements that went into it this time around. Happy Luna New Year!” – The Events Team at S6

For a full overview of what you can expect this year at the Maji Market, make sure to read up on our blog about it here!

18 exclusive food options are available only at the Maji Market!

25 new decor pieces for Luna New Year are now available.

Make sure to grab them from the event before they go away!

2 new crops and 2 new forageables have been added.

“We’ve long wanted to add some more regional variety to gardening and cooking — and the Luna New Year event was a great opportunity to introduce these to the game and give players some more options early in the game. Note, these crops and foragables will be available permanently, even after Maji Market ends.” – S6 Forseti

9 new dishes are ready to be cooked!

3 new emotes are now available.
Subira can now be romanced—but shhh, keep it under wraps.

“This is for all you Palians looking for an older female romance. #forbiddenromance #olderwoman #slowburn #spy #secretagent #loyalty #duty #devotion” – S6 Vega, Senior Narrative Designer

Luna New Year-themed wallpapers have been added!

Several new exterior-themed wallpapers have been added.

“The reason why these wallpapers are at the City Hall and cost Renown is part of how we want exterior options (like building add-ons and these new wallpapers) to be distinguished from the offerings at Tish’s store, which focuses more on interior decor.” – S6 Nikhil, Senior Game Designer

Bay Windows can now be purchased at City Hall!

Looks like the approval form got stuck behind a cabinet in Kenli’s office, but they’re finally here now.

There is now a “Quest Pouch” tab in the inventory that Quest-related items will be sorted into.

Adjustments

Winterlights has come to an end.
Starstones can now drop Star Quality versions at a small chance.

And yes, they are placeable as decor!

The fireplace can now accept wall decor to be placed on it.

If anyone recalls that one staged screenshot we shared back during Winterlights, well, we followed up on our promise. 😉

Premium Store Updates
Three New Outfit Bundles have been added to the Premium Store for Luna New Year!

A Premium Glider Skin is now available for purchase.

FAQs

What about the Chapaa Chase tickets that I had from last Maji Market? Where did they go?

Because this version of the Maji Market is a special occasion to celebrate Luna New Year, you’ll be earning Lucky Envelopes instead! But no worry, your Chapaa Chase tickets are still safe and sound. They’ll be back with the next regular return of Maji Market.
