Paleo Pines – Ver. 1.4.2

  • Release date: May 29th 2024 (North America, Europe) / May 30th 2024 (Japan)
  • Patch notes:
  • Added Sarcosuchus, along with two new dreamstones.
  • Memory optimizations, particularly when building pens.
  • More species are now eligible to spawn after the Triassea Picnic.
  • Fixed small dinos lagging behind when following by spending too long looking for treasure after the player had moved on.
  • Fixed Lucky sometimes feeling sad after completing the main quest.
  • Fixed timing of Desmatosuchus friend call notes.
  • Fixed Triassea Picnic spawns interfering with Valley Triceratops spawns.
  • You can no longer sell Avery’s hubs before completing the relevant quest. Missing hubs will be restored for free in existing saves.
  • Fixed loading older saves where items were dropped out of bounds and couldn’t be reached.
  • Fixed Coelophysis animation when interacting with a ball.
  • Fixed a soft lock when filling water using the medium pond.
  • Improved Troodon petting animation.
  • Fixed animation desyncs when riding Megalosaurus or Postosuchus.
  • Fixed harvest quantity/quality boost icons when mounted – these icons now appear to indicate that the boosts are active when harvesting using a dino.
  • Freya can now craft sandstone walls when reaching ‘close friend’ with her.
  • Fixed stats incorrectly displaying 6 total Poppins rather than 5.
  • Fixed incorrect coloring of a Deinonychus pattern (Xbox One/PS4/Switch only).
  • Fixed the yellow Ariacotta cushion requiring red cloth to craft.
  • Reduced recipe cook chance when adding the correct quantities of all required ingredients, but also extra ingredients which aren’t part of the recipe. This fixes recipes which extend another recipe, such as Pasta Carnotaura.
  • Fixed dinos freezing when harvesting wild collectables with less than 15 stamina.
  • Removed floating mushrooms in Dapplewood (Switch only).
  • Fixed ‘Treasure’ T. rex color being lost when loading pre-1.3 save data.

Paleo Pines – Ver. 1.3.3

  • Release date: February 29th 2024 (North America, Europe) / March 1st 2024 (Japan)
  • Patch notes:
BIG UPDATE
  • Added gorgeous new dino colours through a collaboration with mods and content creators.
  • Added ‘deluxe’ herbivore and carnivore foods, which last longer and provide bonus happiness.
  • Wild collectables can now be picked up while mounted, if the dino has the right skill.
  • Factories (Windmills and Fertiliser!), ranch storage units, and the town board can now be opened while mounted.
  • Added the Chocolate Egg Hunt, where for a limited time you can find chocolate eggs which can be used to instantly befriend a dino or raise a dino to helper level. We hope you find them all!
Additional Updates
  • Fixed a rare error where the credits wouldn’t play. We definitely want you to see the awesome team that created Paleo Pines!
  • Fixed Zara’s idle animation not looping, causing her to appear frozen.
  • Fixed various issues with small dinos working at hubs.

Paleo Pines – Ver. 1.2.34

  • Fixed a Switch crash when booting with no existing save data.
  • In “Bake an Apple Pie”, Mari now accepts an apple pie of any quality, not just 0 stars.
  • In “All for Buns, Buns for All”, recipients will now accept any quality of cinnamon bun.
  • Mario now has an alert after tracking a Corythosaurus for her, so the dialog to finish the quest is no longer blocked by other quests.
  • Fixed errors after removing a flourish while cooking.
  • Fixed an error if a dropped box (or sack) somehow had no contents.
  • Optimizations (mainly memory) to plants and soil on the ranch.
  • Fixed missing sparkles on harvestable pineapples.
  • Fixed a softlock when picking up the tutorial saddle with a full inventory.
  • Fixed incorrect orders in progress shown in Orani’s catalog.
  • Fixed a repeating cutscene after completing “Let’s Get Spicy”.
  • Fixed tenders not dropping produce when asked to follow while carrying it.
  • Fixed windmills being unable to completely fill their output if you never collected it.

Paleo Pines – Ver. 1.2.28

BIG (MASSIVE) UPDATES
  • Added ‘Seasoned Rancher Start’ feature to accelerate starting a new character. Once you’ve played far enough for your ranch house to be repaired and upgraded, you’ll unlock the Seasoned Rancher Start. You’ll then be offered the choice to use it whenever you create a new character. Seasoned Rancher Start begins on day 5, skipping the basic tutorials, so you can starting befriending dinos and designing your ideal ranch right away. You’ll also start off with an albino Gallimimus, bonus resources and shells, and some extra goodies in your ranch storage to start decorating with.
  • Added a variety of new colors to certain dinos. (We won’t tell you which dinos or colours though!)

  • Better handling of repairing the Veridian Valley windmill while Marlo is still present.
  • Removed duplicate textures used by the Triassea Picnic food pile to save memory.
  • Fixed rarity of ‘weekday’ colors for some dinos’ second patterns.
  • Tweaked Spanish translation of the ‘Seasoned Rancher Start’ strings.
  • Fixed repeated stamina regen SFX when sitting.
  • Memory optimizations in the ranch and valley.
  • Memory optimizations to ranch debris, build mode, and mount/dismount VFX.

BIG UPDATES
  • Discovered, but not mastered, recipes now appear in the cooking UI so you can easily see which ingredients they need (but not how many).
  • Decor items now have icons indicating their biome in the inventory, crafting UI, etc.
  • Shoveling plants and paths now returns the item to the inventory.
  • Fixed a slight camera judder while the player is moving.
Additional Updates
  • Upgraded Unity, which comes with various fixes and small performance improvements.
  • Performance and memory optimizations, particularly when farming, placing paths, and changing pen biomes.
  • Fixed seams in the Megalosaurus pattern which were visible from a distance.
  • Added extra quest log tasks for “Owynn’s Unfinished Masterpiece” to make it clearer what to do.
  • Added a secret seat in Dapplewood.
  • Fixed being able to give a treat without actually consuming it, by spamming the journal button.
  • Missing tools (journal, hoe, shovel, watering can, or flute) are now restored when booting the game, so that item loss bugs can’t totally break the game.
  • Improved visuals and performance of ash, aspen, and willow trees.
  • When adding items to a resource project (windmill, sleeping patch, etc.) you can now click the amount to type in an exact number.
  • Fixed endgame budding day visitors sometimes playing incorrect dialog and not giving a gift.
  • Fixed Kentrosaurus eating very slowly when befriending them.
  • Fixed some endgame Triassea Picnic dialog not being triggered.
  • Tops/bottoms are no longer shown as equipped when an outfit is equipped.
  • You can now use the arrow keys to move (thanks Arduina for the suggestion).
  • Fixed a softlock caused by pausing while manually saving the game.
  • Peach trees in Dapplewood now fruit during Cretumnus rather than Jurassos.
  • Fixed missing fence connectors when replacing one fence type with another.
  • Orani will no longer repeatedly take 100 chilis in “Let’s Get Spicy”.
  • The Umber Poppin in “Taste Test” will no longer be sent to ranch storage if it doesn’t fit in the inventory, and you can no longer complete the quest without it.
  • Marlo will no longer gift a broom every budding day after missing him once.
  • Ariacotta Garden Ponds can now be used to fill the watering can and with watering dinos.
  • The hoe and shovel no longer destroy certain decor items.
  • When selling items, they are now removed from the stack you selected rather than the first available stack, to avoid confusion.

BIG UPDATES

  • Further memory/save data optimizations to reduce (and hopefully fix) crashes on consoles.
  • Fixed repaired composters respawning and replacing dreamstones placed where they used to be.
  • Fixed getting stuck after placing your first seed bowl and leaving the ranch or reloading.
  • Fixed being unable to use seeds in recipes, which made sesame buns impossible to cook.

Additional Updates

  • Fixed following dinos sometimes getting stuck in forced walk mode.
  • Added extra footprints to the second Corythosaurus tracking quest to make them easier to find.
  • Fixed slightly raised areas of ranch terrain which clipped through paths and biome tiles.
  • Fixed dropped items being able to fall past the edge of the navmesh where they couldn’t be retrieved.
  • Fixed “All in the Wrist” and “A Brand New Bakery” being triggerable at the same time, causing duplicates of Granny and Marlo.
  • Fixed a Spanish translation error which caused confusion between blueberries and cranberries.
  • Fixed the Spanish translation claiming that Euoplocephalus stands on two legs rather than short legs.
  • Fixed unreasonably large collision on the Palo Verde tree.
  • Fixed animation when mounting a dino while it played its ‘disgusted’ animation (e.g. immediately after waking up).
  • Dino head look is now disabled during petting, so the hand positioning is more consistent.
  • Fixed a seam in the Ariacotta navmesh for large dinos.
  • Fixed a forest puddle blocking navigation for large dinos.
  • Fixed a broken task in “Stone Mason Owynn” if you already had the required stone.
  • Fixed a few broken animations when mounted on certain dinos.
  • Fixed Mari’s dino storage not working correctly with very old saves.
  • Fixed incorrect weather when loading a slot with a different season to the main menu season.
  • Fixed some Shenanigan dinos clipping into the upgraded library.
  • NPC wallets now reset daily regardless of game day (reduces the impact of the game day reset bug).
  • Desert merchants now start work at 6am, for a much healthier 13 hour work day.
  • Mari and Owynn now appear properly in the Plaza for Shenanigan.
  • Fixed a softlock when quitting while harvesting a wild collectable.
  • Credited individual linguists who worked on the translations.
  • Many other things too minor to mention.
  • Fixed a hang when displaying Mari’s dino storage when the default dino has notes.
  • Fixed hubs with 4 assigned helpers only showing the first helper’s name.
  • Fixed the “Herd Mentality” quest asking for incorrect ingredients and allowing the player to skip the ingredients phase entirely.
  • Added padding around the descriptions in the dinodex to stop them being cut off.
  • Fixed unpausing during dialogue resulting in no selected choice if navigation input received at the same time.
  • Fixed tree produce falling out of ranch bounds.
  • Fixed NPCs getting stuck on garden bench collision.
  • Dialog name text should now autosize for very long player names.
  • Fixed some German translations in the ‘dino care’ section of the journal.
  • Fixed missing Dilophosaurus footfall VFX/SFX when sprinting.
  • Fixed some desert rocks using valley rock materials.
  • Fixed Coelophysis carrot nose placement floating above snoot.

How to download updates for Paleo Pines for the Nintendo Switch?

To download the updates for Paleo Pines, you have three options:

  • let the console do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated, and didn’t completely turn it off

If not…

  • try to launch the game from the Home Menu while being connected to the internet. You should get a prompt when doing so: simply follow the instructions on screen;

OR

  • select the game > press either + or – to go to the Options page > select Software update > select Via the Internet.

To check that you have the latest version installed, simply select the game on the Home Menu, and press – or + to go to the Options: the version number is displayed just below the game title.
