[North America] NES Mini: launch events detailed, Power Line back for 3 days

Next week, on November 11th, Nintendo will release the Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System (or NES Mini) in Europe and North America (Japan will get the Nintendo Classic Mini: Family Computer the day before). To celebrate, Nintendo of America has announced some special events to celebrate.

  • November 10th (from 9PM): ’80s-themed launch event at the Nintendo NY Store. The first 250 visitors will be able to play classic NES games, participate in a costume contest (dressed as their favorite Nintendo characters or ’80s icons), and show off their NES knowledge in a retro Nintendo game show;
  • November 11th to 13th): Nintendo is bringing back its Power Line for a limited time. For those who don’t know (because they’re too young… or too old to remember!), the Power Line is a hotline that players could call when they were stuck in a game. Nintendo Game Play Counselors were there to give tips and useful advice. This 2016 version of the Power Line will be entirely automated, and will be available from 6AM to 7PM (PT) / 9AM to 10PM (ET). To get tips, tricks, and hear some behind-the-scenes stories from actual Nintendo Game Play Counselors, you will have to dial (425) 885-7529!
  • November 10th and 11th: Nintendo’s social medial channels will go “completely retro to a time when “social media” involved trading passwords and game tips on the school bus”.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Nintendo has planned anything similar for the launch of the NES Mini in Europe…

The Nintendo Classic Mini: Family Computer comes out on November 10th in Japan.
