No More Heroes 3: latest video showcases Emergency Evade & Weapon Clash

Earlier this week, Marvelous began sharing some videos for No More Heroes 3, showcasing some of the elements and gameplay mechanics of the game. The first one was about the Beam Katana (and the unique way to recharge its batteries). The second one showcases two mechanics of the battle system: Emergency Evade and Weapon Clash.

Emergency Evade is fairly straightforward: if you manage to dodge an incoming attack with just the right timing, you enter slowmo. This allows you to reposition yourself before unleashing a flurry of attacks on your opponent (who cannot block or dodge those attacks). You can also use grapple moves and Death Blows. Mastering Emergency Evades is a good way to get the upper hand during battles!

The second mechanic is called Weapon Clash, and it’s triggered when you launch a slash attack and the beam katana clashes with the opponent’s weapon at the same time. If you win the duel (which is done by moving the Joy-Cons around in a specific way), your opponents will be stunned for a few moments, allowing you launch a deadly Death Blow.
