Nintendo Switch: release date and pricing revealed, more launch info

Today, during the Nintendo Switch Presentation, Nintendo finally announced what many fans have been dying to know for months: the release date for the Nintendo Switch. And it looks like the console will launch quite sooner than most expected: on March 3rd, with a simultaneous launch worldwide.

To be more precise, the Nintendo Switch will launch on that day in the following regions/countries:

  • Japan, where it will cost 29 980 Yen
  • North America, where it will cost $299.99
  • Major European countries, where it will cost… most likely 299.99€, but as always, retailers will be free to set the price they want
  • Hong-Kong

In most countries, pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch will start later today (January 13th), but in Japan specifically, the console will be available for pre-order from January 21st.

Here’s what you will find in the box:

  • Nintendo Switch console
  • Right and Left Joycons
  • Strap for the Joycons
  • the Grip
  • the Dock
  • the HDMI cable
  • the AC Adapter

Unfortunately, the Pro Controller will be sold separately, though this is nothing new and/or surprising.

At launch, the Nintendo Switch will be available in two different packs, though the contents and price will be exactly the same. The only difference is that the second pack includes Neon Blue and Neon Red Joy-Cons.

As far as launch titles go, we’re still compiling the list but here’s the titles confirmed so far:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (worldwide)
  • 1-2 Switch (worldwide)
  • Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence with Power Up Kit (Japan)
  • I Am Setsuna (Japan)
  • Puyo Puyo Tetris S (Japan)
  • Disgea 5 (Japan)
  • Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13 with Power Up Kit (Japan)
  • Super Bomber Man R (Japan / March in North America)
  • Dragon Quest Heroes I and II (Japan)
  • Snipperclips (Japan)

Oh, and one last thing… yes, the Nintendo Switch will be region-free, though Nintendo’s wording during the presentation made it sound like there could be exceptions.

Stay tuned for more details!
