Nintendo Switch news (Dec. 20): Seasons of Heaven trailer / Vulkan and OpenGL conformance

Today’s Nintendo Switch news: first proper trailer for Seasons of Heaven, but also…

  • Vulkan and OpenGL

Seasons of Heaven

Developed by AnyArt Productions, Seasons of Heaven is an upcoming adventure game for the Nintendo Switch. Never heard of that game before? Check out previous posts for more details, but also some screenshots and art!

As announced previously, the very first trailer for the game (which runs on Unreal Engine 4), was revealed yesterday. Here it is:

Looks promising, doesn’t it? Well, before you get too excited about it, there’s something to keep in mind… The footage from that trailer was captured on PC, as the developed do not yet have a Nintendo Switch devkit. In other words, there’s absolutely no guarantee the game will look as great as it does in this trailer, which still gives us an idea of what to expect!

Vulkan and OpenGL

Yesterday, it was found out that the Nintendo Switch was Vulkan and OpenGL conformant. What does this mean for players? Well… nothing much. At least, not directly. It’s developers this little bit of good news is for, as Vulkan and OpenGL conformance will make for better and easier develoment/porting of games. And the easier development for a specific platform is, the more games could be released on it.
