Today’s Nintendo news: special presentation for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on July 30th, but also…

  • Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Nintendo have announced that a new video presentation for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, hosted by Masahiro Sakurai himself, will take place on July 30th at the following time:

  • Europe: 3PM
  • UK: 2PM
  • North America (ET): 9AM
  • North America (PT): 6AM
  • Japan: 10PM

Do note that it’s not a livestream: the entire video will be available right away on YouTube.

During this presentation, Masahiro Sakurai will showcase the second DLC Pack, with the Hero from Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. He will also reveal when it will be released, which is expected to be July 30th/July 31st.

Nintendo of Europe tweeted that the next Software update (Ver. 4.0.0) is to be released on July 30th/31st, implying that the DLC will also be released on that day since DLC always come along with the major Software update (it was the case for Piranha Plant and Joker from Persona 5). It’s pretty safe to expect the video presentation to also cover this Ver. 4.0.0 update.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

We don’t have any sales data for Fire Emblem: Three Houses yet, but we do know that the game is off to a great start in the United Kingdom. According to Christopher Dring from GamesIndustry.biz, it was the best-selling game in the country last week, and by a wide margin (it sold twice as many units as Wolfenstein: Youngblood, ranked #2, at retail).

The game also did fairly well compared to previous entries in the Fire Emblem series. It sold nearly twice as many units as Fire Emblem Awakening did at launch, and more than twice the combined sales of the two versions of Fire Emblem Fates.
