Nintendo Selects

Yesterday, Nintendo announced that two new games would join the Nintendo Selects range in North America:

  • Kirby Triple Deluxe
  • Mario & Luigi: Dream Team

A few hours after the announcement, Nintendo shared the boxart for both games on Twitter:

Those two new Nintendo Selects titles will be released in mid-February in North America.

Bowser Oni mask

In Japan, the day just before Spring is known as Setsubun (it falls on February 3rd). One of the customs for that day is called Mamemaki, and here’s what Wikipedia has to say about it:

The custom of mamemaki first appeared in the Muromachi period. It is usually performed by the toshiotoko (年男) of the household (the male who was born on the corresponding animal year on the Chinese zodiac), or else the male head of the household. Roasted soybeans (called “fortune beans” (福豆 fuku mame)) are thrown either out the door or at a member of the family wearing an Oni (demon or ogre) mask, while the people say “Demons out! Luck in!” (鬼は外! 福は内! Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!?) and slam the door.

For families who want to add a Super Mario flavour to that custom, Nintendo shared a PDF to download and print. That way, they can have their own Oni mask featuring… Bowser himself! Click here to download the PDF.

Yo-kai Watch

Yesterday, the National Media Musuem in the United Kingdom announced the Yo-kai Watch Half Term Take Over. It’s a special event taking place from February 18th to Sunday 26th, where visitors can take part in various activities such as creative activities, gameplay sessions with Yo-kai Watch on Nintendo 3DS, a Nintendo 3DS quiz, and more. If you happen to live in the UK, and more precisely near Bradford, you can click here for more details!
