Nintendo @ Japan Expo 2018: line-up, stage presentations, tourneys

The Japan Expo is one of the most important events related to Japanese culture in the world, and it takes place every year in Paris. This year, it will take place from July 5th to July 8th, and as usual, Nintendo will have a big presence at the show with a sizeable booth offering a wide array of games for visitors to play. There will also be stage presentations and the usual tournaments!

Here’s the line-up of games playable at Nintendo’s booth:

  • Bayonetta 2
  • Dark Souls : Remastered
  • Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate
  • OCTOPATH TRAVELER
  • Starlink : Battle for Atlas
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild
  • Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes
  • MEGA MAN 11
  • ÔKAMI HD
  • Valkyria Chronicles 4
  • DRAGON BALL FighterZ
  • SNK HEROINES Tag Team Frenzy
  • Splatoon 2
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  • MY HERO ONE’S JUSTICE
  • Splatoon 2 DLC Octo Expansion
  • 1-2-Switch
  • ARMS
  • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
  • Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
  • EA SPORTS FIFA 19
  • GO VACATION
  • Kirby Star Allies
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Mario Tennis Aces
  • Pokkén Tournament DX
  • Sushi Striker : The Way of Sushido
  • Nintendo Labo (with a separate space for it)

Every day, there will be stage presentations for Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Let’s Go, Eevee!, but it’s not clear if anything new will be shown there. If past reveals at the Japan Expo are anything to go by, there will most likely be a trailer uploaded on YouTube worldwide just before or during the event itself (if there’s anything revealed there to begin with).

Nintendo France may also live tweet the most important bits from the various presentations planned, including the one for Octopath Traveler (with the Producer and Composer). As usual, we will be at the ready to translate all the relevant bits!

Finally, there will be the usual tournaments:

  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: the game will be playable for the very first time in Europe (most likely the same demo as at E3 2018). There will be daily tourneys with 1 vs 1 battles without items (finals), and 4 player battles. The grand winner of each day will earn a special trophy.
  • Mario Tennis Aces: the winners of the tournaments will win an exclusive accessory (most likely the same one recently offered in Japan)
  • Splatoon 2.
