Nintendo Financials (August 2025): results and highlights

Nintendo has shared its latest financial results, covering the period ended June 2025 (April 1st 2025 to June 30th 2025). You will find all the details on these pages:

  • Consolidated Financial Highlights, with consolidated operating results, the forecast for the current Fiscal Year, Nintendo comments, sales information (regional breakdown, digital sales), sales data and forecast, and more
  • Financial Results Explanatory Material, with lots of additional sales data, list of million-sellers this Fiscal Year, release planning, and more

Some highlights:

  • The Nintendo Switch 2 is off to a fantastic start with, as previously reported, over 3.5 million units sold during the first 4 days: that’s the highest-ever global sales for any Nintendo console ever. Due to sales surpassing Nintendo’s expectations, the company is strengthening production to increase supply (with demand exceeding supply in many countries).
    • Hardware: 5.82 million units sold in June, and over 6 million units during the first 7 weeks (up until ~July 24th)
    • Software: 8.67 million units
  • Mario Kart World is also off to a great start with 5.63 million units (including those bundled with the console, which account for the vast majority of sales. Important note: net sales from software bundled with hardware is entirely classified as hardware sales)
  • Since the Nintendo Switch 2 can play Nintendo Switch games, sales of older games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario Jamboree were fairly strong too.
  • Nintendo Switch (Hardware): 0.98 million units sold.
  • Nintendo Switch (Software): 24.40 million units sold.
  • Digital sales dropped to 69.8 billion Yen during Q1 (-13.5% Year on Year), mostly due to a decrease in sales of downloadable versions of retail games for Nintendo Switch.
  • Mobile and IP related business saw its sales drop to 16.7 billion Yen (-4.4% Year on Year), mainly due to a drop in movie-related revenue.
  • Despite Nintendo Switch 2 sales surpassing its expectations, Nintendo did not make any change to its forecast for the current Fiscal Year (shared back in May).
  • For Nintendo Switch 2, the plan is to maximise sales by maintaining the momentum of Mario Kart World, and continually introduce new games.
  • For Nintendo Switch, the plan is to “everage the hardware installed base and rich software library to further expand sales of evergreen titles and maintain engagement.”
  • Due to the higher price of the Nintendo Switch 2 (compared to the Nintendo Switch), net sales saw a significant increase during Q1. Also, the gross profit margin dropped due to the higher proportion of Hardware sales, and especially with the Nintendo Switch 2 having a lower profit margin than the Nintendo Switch.
