Namco Museum releasing on July 28th, includes Pac-Man VS

Today, Bandai-Namco made several announcements regarding Namco Museum, starting with the release date: it’s July 28th in Europe and North America. No date was given for Japan (just the usual “Summer”, but it would be surprising if the release wasn’t simultaneous worldwide).

The second announcement is definitely going to please fans of the GameCube cult classic: Pac-Man VS, which is included in this collection of retro games!

For those who never heard of that game before, Pac-Man VS (originally released on the GameCube) is a really special game. For starters, it was developed by Nintendo (under supervision of Shigeru Miyamoto himself), which is unusual in itself. But more importantly, Pac-Man VS is one of the earliest games offering asymetric multiplayer, almost a decade before the Wii U was even released.

It can only be played in multiplayer, with:

• 1 player controlling Pac-Man, and playing on the GBA (connected to the GameCube). The screen of the handheld displays the entire maze;
• at least one other player controls one of the Ghosts, using the GameCube controller.

On the Nintendo Switch, Pac-Man VS is slightly different, as it can be played in Single Player. As for multiplayer, it can be played with only one system, but if you’re going for 4 player multiplayer, you will need a second Nintendo Switch console.
