[N-Direct] New Nintendo 2DS XL getting new colours in North America and Japan

During last week’s Nintendo Direct, Nintendo mostly focused on the Nintendo Switch, but there was also a fair bit of Nintendo 3DS announcement. In the North America and Japanese presentation specifically, Nintendo announced new colours for the Nintendo 2DS XL, released in July worldwide.

Let’s start with North America: the White + Orange New Nintendo 2DS is finally releasing in that region, on October 6th. Naturally, the price stays the same: $149.99. It was one of the two launch colours in Europe and Japan, but for some reason, only the Blue + Black model was launched in North America…

Meanwhile, in Japan, Nintendo is going to release not one, but two new New Nintendo 2DS XL colours. And unlike the one releasing in North America, those are brand new.

The two new colours are:

  • Black x Lime
  • White x Lavender

Both will be released on October 5th, the same day as Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions. Naturally, they will cost the same as a regular New Nintendo 2DS XL, since they do not come with any game or extra.

Here’s some pictures for the two new colours:

Unfortunately, we don’t know if/when those two new colours will be released in Europe and North America. Since the line-up for the rest of the year is pretty much locked up at this point, it would no doubt be in 2018 (not this year).

The Upcoming Releases page has been updated with those new models!
