Modern Combat: Blackout announced for the Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch may not have a single Call of Duty game (yet?), it’s about to get Modern Combat: Blackout, a FPS by Gameloft. Originally released on smart devices as Modern Combat 5: Blackout (where it’s been downloaded over 100 million times worldwide), it’s a FPS totally not heavily inspired by Activision’s flagship series. It will be released soon via the Nintendo eShop, in a version said to be optimised for Nintendo’s console.

Modern Combat: Blackout offers both multiplayer and single player content, with no less than 9 different classes to choose from:

  • Assault
  • Heavy
  • Recon
  • Support
  • Bounty Hunter
  • Sapper
  • X1 Morph
  • Commander

You’re free to choose whichever suits your playstyle the most, though of course, you can also customise and level up your character (which can be done both in Single Player and Online). You can also customise the controls to your liking.

Several game modes are available:

  • Online: team battles, free for all
  • Single Player: various fast-paced missions, taking place in Tokyo and Venice

In Japan, Modern Combat: Blackout will cost 2 400 Yen, which means it will not be Free 2 Play (unlike the mobile version). Unfortunately, Gameloft does not share any details about changes made to accomodate this switch to Pay 2 Play (especially regarding microtransactions).

Here’s some additional details from the Google Play page (obviously about the mobile version), along with some screenshots (from the Nintendo Switch version):
