Mighty No. 9: releases date, physical version, new languages

A few days ago, comcept teased some major news about Mighty No. 9, and today, the company was finally able to make the long-awaited announcement.

comcept has partnered up with the publisher Deep Silver, which means that Mighty No. 9 will actually get a physical release on Wii U. But that’s not all: they’ve also added even more stuff to the game! First is an extra stage and boss: the Ray DLC (name to be confirmed). Once you’ve beaten it, you will unlock Ray (Beck’s rival), and you will be able to play with him in the main game.

This extra stage is free for Kickstarter backers and players who will buy the physical version of Mighty No. 9. Players who pick up the digital version of the game will be able to purchase it separately if they want. While this may seem unfair at first, it’s not quite the case: after all, the digital version will be cheaper than the retail version.

The price will be:

– retail: 29.99€ / 29.99$ / 24.99£
– digital: 19.99€ / 19.99$ / 14.99£

Next: voice acting. Even though English won the poll regarding voice acting in Mighty No. 9, comcept eventually decided to include Japanese VA in the game… in fact, they even added French VA! What’s more, the game will have subtitles in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Russian, Polish and even Brazilian Portuguese, courtesy of Deep Silver (who will also take care of sales and help with Quality Assurance).

Of course, there’s a catch: the game has been delayed, and will now come out on Wii U in September (Sept. 15th in North America / Sept. 18th in Europe). The Nintendo 3DS will follow later, as porting proved more complex than initially planned: after all, the developers had to basically recreate the game from scratch for that platform.

All this extra development time will allow the developers to polish the game even more. Backers don’t have anything to worry about though: this delay won’t change any of the Kickstarter rewards or plans. If you still have questions about today’s announcement, you can always go and read the official FAQ available on the official website.
