Mega Man Legacy Collection announced for Nintendo 3DS; trailer and screens

E3 2015 is just around the corner, and the various publishers are starting to reveal their line-up for the event. After Natsume last week, Capcom sent a press release today, in order to announce which games they are going to bring to E3 this year. And unfortunately, there is only one title for a Nintendo platform: Mega Man Legacy Collection, for the Nintendo 3DS.

Mega Man Legacy Collection

Mega Man Legacy Collection will include the first six games in the series, which will have various modern enhancements. The collection will also include various challenges, a museum looking back at the Mega Man series history, some useful data, and more.

Here’s a rundown of the various additional modes:

– Leaderboards;

– Challenges: takes various moments for the 6 Mega Man games, and weaves them into a series of challenges. They include things such as “‘Can you do these six areas strung together with one life bar” or “Try fighting all six Mega Man 1 bosses in a row.” Apparently, there’s challenges for both seasoned players and newcomers (so they can learn how to play);

– Replays: the top player of each challenge will have their replay uploaded on the internet, so that everyone can check it out.

– Database: each game will have its own database, with an enemy list. You can read details about those enemies, but also fight them in a special training session (useful if you keep getting stuck against the same old boss).

– Museum: includes lots of sketches, artworks and other visual materials from the first six Mega Man games.

Here’s some screenshots/artworks (console version):

Mega Man Legacy Collection will cost 14.99$, and will only be avaialble via the Nintendo eShop. Digital Eclipse is the company Capcom picked up for developing this collection. It will be playable at the San Diego Comic-Con.

By the way, this isn’t the only Mega Man project Capcom has in the works. A few days ago, the company announced that an animated series would air in 2017, courtesy of Dentsu Entertainment and Man of Action Entertainment. Unfortunately, we don’t know anything about this series, just that it’s part of the celebration for Mega Man’s 30th anniversary.

Mega Man Legacy Collection (3DS eShop) comes out this Winter in Europe and North America.
